Problems with Linksys USB 100 TX Adapter

Hey I got a Linksys USB 100 TX adapter and have it plugged in, it is used to connect to my @home service. However, whenever I try to use my CD drive to copy large files the CPU use jumps to 100 % and the system begins to bog down.

IIS on XP

Hi guys, I'm having problems running IIS on XP. It all install fine but when I go to the IIS icon I don't get the usual options like on IIS on Win2K where you have FTP and Webserver. . . I'm getting nothing.

I have a Red Hat 7. 1 server, with SAMBA upgraded to 2. 2. 1a. I have a script with an SMBMOUNT from RedHat to my older 2000 Pro installation's C$ and D$ shares (to read/write certain files on demand).

Linux and win2k network peace?

Ok, before I proceed, please understand that just like many of you feel, I am quite VEEEERY happy with windows 2000, and its is definately my first choice for an OS, no questions asked. Now, I was hoping to find a linux guru in this crowd, so please bear with me if you hate linux (just like i do).

FTPCtrs error in event log

I been getting in my event log for application is Unable to collect the FTP performance statistics service is data DWORD 0 and Event 1000 error. I can't even remove it. I remove FTP service off the IIS and reinstalled and removing all the programs in the IIS.

strange problem

When i right click on a directory and try to look at properties or open the 'sharing' option, nothing happens. the options are listed, but clicking them has no effect. Running win 2k, loaded win2k professional components recently and fear that they may have hosed my setup.

encrypt files in win2k... how?

there are some files i want to encrypt with a password so that only a person that knows the password can open the file. . . delete it, etc. . . how do I do that? can I encrypt folders?.

Alcatel USB SpeedTouch problems

I've just had ADSL installed at home (yeah!!), but I'm having problems with the Alcatel USB Speedtouch. . . Everything works fine for about the first 10meg of data downloaded (doesn't matter the source - websites, ftp, anything) and then the modem just hangs.

ok, if i have a DSL going into a computer (via PCI card or USB) and i also have a network card in that machine, can i output the DSL from the network card to the uplink port on my 5-port switch and then plug other computers into the switch to share the connection? if so, how do i go about doing that with either Win ...

How to prevent "network cable unplugged"-systray-b

Everytime i shutdown my client pc there's that balloonthing (sorry i don't know how to call that) in the systray that tells on the server pc that the client has been shutdown. I there anyway to disable that? I reboot my computer several times a day (especially when i'm tweaking and have to reboot ) and that balloon ...

In a mixed environment of NT Server (later W2K)and on the client side Win9X/NT/W2K How can I make sure of compatibility? At the moment users have to each morning map up drives manually with domain/userid & pass to get connected as the system doesn't seem to remember them (sometimes I have to reset the pass).

I would like the second computer to automatically map this share located on the first computer regardless of which user logs on to the second computer.

NIC takes a long time to initialize when booting

Upon doing a clean install of Win2K Pro, it takes the NIC forever to load (approx. 1 minute). I get this message in the Event Viewer everytime I boot: Dhcp Warning Your computer has automatically configured the IP address for the Network Card with network address 00207800F6F8.
