Ok. . this problem's driving me nuts! Why is it that on my Windows XP Professional machine, I can share a CD-ROM drive but can't access it from any other machine on my network without getting an access denied message, yet I can share portions of my harddrive with authenticated users (even at root level if I wish).
2 Machines on XP stopped communicating.

I have two PCs connected over a network, fresh, clean installs. . . And provided i undid everything that crap home networking wizard did the two PCs would hapily chat, share, print and even share an internet connection together.

Ok here's my situation. My 2k box is connected to the internet via a token ring connection. I have an ethernet LAN setup in my room, which connects to my Linux box. I've configured the 2k box to gateway for the Linux box, and the Linux box can browse internet just fine.

I am having trouble with my laptop running WinXP Pro to see the rest of my home network. I have 2 Win2k Servers running and a few other WinXP desktops. The networking is running on just a Workgroup setup, no domain.

Is it possible to upload to the telnet server packaged with win2k? it doesn't seem to be working when i try the standard zmodem stuff. this seems lame if not possible. any help is appriciated!.

Ok here is my problem, win xp connects to the internet on its own some times. I've disabled remote access and auto up, I dont have a virus either(just did scan with norton 2002 with all current updates and no viruses) I have it on a dialup connection that connects at 28.

There is a fantastic feature in Windows 2000 where u can set an IP on a jet direct box on a HP Printer and then print directly to it without the need to create a queue on Netware or NT Server, which we use here in the University to manager our printing needs.

OK, this is a detail, but I'd still like to at least understand why: On my home LAN I utilize wake-on-lan. Cool feature and works well, but I cannot wake up another W2K machine that is hibernated. If it is totally powered off, it wakes up just perfectly.
