k, this is not really a XP problem but i figured i'd get more replies here instead. here's the problem: We have 5 machinese on a small peer2peer network at work. We just purchased a new box and for some strange reason, it's not able to communicate with 2 of the pcs that are on the 10mbps hub.

I recently inherited a NT Server network and am trying to connect to it with Windows XP Pro. The XP box uses static TCP/IP protocol to connect to the internet. Previously I connected to the server as a workgroup using Netbeui, which is also installed on the server.

Our office has a small network with a Compex Microhub/8 TP1008C and four NT 4. 0 Workstations (No Server). I recently purchased a new machine which has XP Pro on it and gave it the same workgroup name as the NT 4.
Why is the activity light on my cable modem blinking?

It is hooked up to my Win2k Server machine. My cable modem activity light is always blinking. I am not sure what is sending data over my modem. I checked my startup and there is nothing out of the ordinary running.

Here is an event I have in my Zone Alarm Pro log: The firewall has blocked Internet access to your computer (UDP Port 7062) from 204. 127. 202. 4 (DNS). Why would zone alarm block this? Any idea?.

I am having a bizzare problem with ICS under WinXP. . . My primary machine has a 56K dial-up connection, is able to browse the internet just fine. My secondary PC shows the ICS connection, is able to browse to several sites (main msn, microsoft, and hotmail), but seems to time-out on any other site.

I have a lan in my house with one of the computers on winxp. This comp has 2 connects for it. . the first is the lan card (Default connection) & the second is a dialup adapter. When the Default connection goes out a popup box comes up asking me if i want to connect to the dialup adapter.

Hi, My NT4 servers are set to logoff a user if no activity exists for 30 minutes. I did this in the modem properties section. The problem is some users have apps that always send data, like auto checking for e-mail at regular and short intervals.

Here is my problem. I'm using the Linksys BEFSR41 Router on our home network here, but I can upload files over ICQ with no problems at all. However, I cannot receive files via ICQ. I am using ICQ 2001 v5.

Hi ! I been trying to setup a drivemapping on a win2k server without the need of a user to be logged on. I have tried to schedule a batchfile (net use blablabla) to be started when the computer start and tried to make a service of the batchfile without any success.

I have a home LAN. There are computers on the network with password protected shares. My main Win2k computer won't remember the passwords for the shares and always asks for the password when it reconnects at logon.
win2k server, dns & ics giving me problems!

i'm using one win2k server machine for my dns, dhcp, & ad. this machine has a pci modem which i use to dial-up to the internet. upon enabling ics, my ip is set to 192. 168. 0. 1, & i have configured my dhcp scope accordingly.
