Hi. I've recently accuired some Sun SPARCstations that I want to have a mess around with, problem being, the network protocal they use is ARP/RARP. I was wondering if there were any ARP/RARP drivers for WinXP anywhere so that I could get the SPARCs to boot off my WinXP machine.

Im using a no-name 5Port 100mb Switch, two machines connected running at 100mb, and an uplink to a 10mb hub with some others connected. My problem now is that file transfers using ftp between machines only operates at around 1000k/s which is only a tenth of what it should be.

Hi all, One of my Windows 2000 servers has just started showing a new event in it's event log. This is an Active Directory domain with 5 Domain Controllers. The server in question is running Windows 2000 Server SP2.

I am fairly new to networking, so bare with me! In my office, we are running 3 Win 2000 Pro machines, 3 Win 98 machines, and 1 Win 95 machine. We were running at Win NT 4. 0 server, till our hard drive crashed, so we bought a new one with Win 2000 server on it, and had to start over from scratch.

Im using ICS to share my broadband connection, im using a USB DSL modem. Ive setup AD, DHCP and DNS, but clients cannot resolve external names, but can ping external IP addresses. Im guessing i need to setup another DNS server for external name resolution and one for internal network names.

Hey guys. . . Here's the deal. . . I'm running Windows 2000 Advanced Server. Using IIS for the websites and FTP sites. I have 2 websites, and 2 FTP sites. On the default/primary website, I can assign a specific IP to the website as long as that IP is the main IP specified in the network settings.

Hello everyone, here is my situation. . . I am using a Linksys Access Point attached to a Win2K machine and 2 Linksys wireless PC cards on 2 WinXP laptops. My problem is that the connection between the laptops and the Access Point keeps dropping.

2K -> XP is fine, but transfers from XP to 2K are at about 2k/s! Any ideas? im just using TCP/IP and Client for MS networks. Ive tried setting up an Ftp on the XP machine, and transfers to the 2K machine are the same.

I have a Windows 2000 machine on my network that hosts an Internet connection using ICS. The problem is that file transfers, or anything else for that matter are really slow going from another machine to the Windows 2000 one.

Hi, My W2KS is not currently set up as a Domain Controller as it is used in a Peer-to-Peer Network. But I need to move up to configuring my LAN to use it as a Domain Controller. What is the easiest way to convert my W2KServer as a Domain Controller? I understand that there is a command line prompt to do the same.

Dear All, This applies to BOTH Windows 2000 and Windows XP. Is there any way to password-protect shared files/folders?? For example, say I want to share my CD Drive as cdrom yet I want ONLY a specifc user to have access to it through his/her username and password.

Terminal Server Access from outside the internal network

I have a Terminal Server 2000 running and I can access it from Internet Explorer no problem as long as I'm behind the Linksys router. If I try to access it from outside, it can't find the server name.

i have this problem. . . on client computers, i always have 2 passwords in the shared drives, one is for sharing only and another is for full access. . . i browsed client computers and i accidentally input my share only password.
