Slow Logon With Mapped Net Drives

I have a assortment of mapped network drives to different computers on my network. If i logon to my local machine and one comptuer is not on, it takes a long time to log in. I remember Windows 98 having a option of either Reconnect at Logon or Reconnect at first use, but i want it in XP too.

hidden network devices?????

I have 2 nics in my severpc and for some reason i had to plug and unplug them several times. But every time Windows gives them another number. Now they are listed as local area connection 8 and 9. How can a see and delete the invisible devices? Thanks.

Network disconnection...help!!

I try to connect my desktop and my notebook (both with win XP), all seems correct and one computer see the other (ping is ok). But when I try to transfer a large file after few megabytes the network stop and the OS told me that the network isn't available anymore.

the connection with the VSAT its down!!

The server of my lab has two NICs one to connect internet by an antenna(VSAT) creating a proxy for all the users in the LAB, and the other one to comunicate with the rest of the LAN. When i start up the server i cannot establish a connection to the antenna until disable the other LAN connection.

I am having a problem when the users of my lab log into the domain, because each of the workstations lose their proxy configuration and other kind of stuff like this; also all the documents saved the day before.

NT Mandatory profiles for WIN95/98 Clients

I am having problems trying to get mandatory profiles of my client computers. I have NT4 server and WIN 95 and WIN 98 clients. I have followed Microsoft KB (Q161809) Create Mandatory Profiles for Windows 95/98 Users on Win NT domain and (Q139449) How to Create Individual Home Directories.

Here my network layout. 2 buildings, Servers and switch on one building connected to a switch from the other building via an arial CAT5. I want to have a back up switchs/hubs in place in case the cable snap (Storm, tall truck).

Morning guys. I have created roaming accounts on my DC (Win2K Adv. Svr. ) and have a shared folder off the server for their roaming profiles. I've used roaming profiles for a long time now since WinNT 4 without incident.

Guyz, I'm a rookie IT now, I'm lucky I got a job with that little knowledge n without certificate At the moment I have one server n 37 clients. Server is serving SQL 7. 0 , that all the clients n things going on that.

Well, I've been hangin' out on DC alot lately and that is a hub based peer to peer filesharing program. Problem is, some hubs only accept ppl from sertain ISPs and therefor they check the IP number. This may not be the cleanest thing to do.

Strip E-mail headers at router/firewall

I was just thinking about mail headers, and was wondering if anyone was familiar with stripping the header information off at the gateway, router, or firewall. Typically you will see the sending mail server, type of server, and its version.

Ok i jus got my server finished and i wanna run bots in cs so i can play and slay them. the thing is on my server i create the game. but my computer that i want to play on won't reonize it, but when i creat the server on my machine i wanna play on it reconizes it then.

i have 3 computors downstairs(me, sis, dad) mine and my dads have XP and my sis have ME well anyway i cant get them to netowrk with each other i got a router that all three are connected thru(all three chare cable modem access) so i know the router works well anyway any idea tyo get the network running?

Hi, I am having a problem with my Win 2k AS system. I can access my Win 2k AS system from my Win 2k Pro but my Win 2k AS can't access my Win 2k Pro. It says that network is not accessible. I am using SMC router with dial up connection so what I do is basically just setup the workgroup the same.

how to share internet with ICS on cable connection

I'm nto asking this for myself, but a friend has a problem to share his cable connection using the built-in win2k ICS. I told him to enable ICS on the 1st network device. But that didn't share the connection + he couldn't surf at all anymore, even after disabling ICS again.

NIC card suggestions

I am in the market for a new NIC. I am thinking Linksys LNE100TX, its fairly cheap and has good performance, also a Netgear FA311, anybody have good or bad opinions on these? What about a Cicero? BTW, the card must work with all versions of Windows.

Hi, How can a NT4-server get scheduled to start up, e. g. each Monday morning at 07:00? And to shut down Friday evening? For shutting down there are shareware solutions available. But for starting up we can't find anything at all.

connecting to a hub

i am trying to set up XP on a hub that is sharing a cable modem to the internet. the network card is installed correctly, it has the connection light on and the activity light is flashing. XP insists that the network cable is not connected to the PC.
