Swith LED still on without WOL?

I just noticed an extra light on on my switch. Oberving the cable, lead to my friends computer. NOT TURNED ON! I checked! And the LED was still on on the switch. But I did not install the WOL cable from the NIC to the MB.

LAN computers with diff internet ips = slow transfer

If anyone that can explain this to me and how to fix it, I'd be greatly appreciative. 2 computers, each are connected to a cable modem through a LinkSys 5 port switch. Cablemodem has DHCP server, which gives up to 3 internet ip's.

PDC problem

Hi all, I have an NT 4 BDC that was recently got promoted to a PDC status. The previous PDC was demoted and being rebuilt. Here's the problem, Everything works fine the BDC became PDC, users are being authenticated when logging on.

I have done this in Windows 2000, but never in NT4. I have an NT server with 3 network cards in it; 1 tokenring, 1 ethernet connected out to the internet, and 1 ethernet hooked into the uplink on a switch.

i have 2 computers, One using a XP os and the other a ME os both using 100mb nic's. Both computers go through a hub i use the wizerd to set it up that way on the xp coputer, I copy the thing to the disk after the wizerd is done so i can run it on my ME computer and i set up the same way, on the ME computer it locks ...

Tunneling out from firewall?

I'd like to set up a tunnel out of this heavily firewalled school network. Anonymizer. com looks like it has a decent service, anybody use it? Or maybe suggest a similar company that offers a free trial period to test it out?.

IIS 5.1 help?

I have installed IIS 5. 1 and set it up to use d:\webserver as webserver directory. I made a testpage. html and it worked but when I changed the extension to. asp I got an 500 internal server error. Whats up with that? I thought IIS 5.

i'm currently using cjb. net's dynamic dns service. i recently switched from cable to adsl, the new isp does not give out a static ip. the problem is the adsl connection seems to always gets dropped and xp will automatically reconnect, but it keeps giving me a new ip each time.

I've tried everything! I have a small in home network with 2 PC's both running XP pro. The network works fine, both computers can share files and printers but for some reason I cannot connect to the internet from the client pc.

I Have installed w2k proffessional. i have the central database on it and i share it to other user, but when the summa of all connections to this computer reach 10 connetctions, no one can made the other connection, and the database is unavailable for others.

Can you network a 98 machine to an XP one?

I spent several hours trying, and thought it to be impossible (I have successfully set up 98 to 2k, 98 to ME etc. and XP to XP networks with no problems) after many hours of headache, frustration and zero progress.

Hi There, just got my XP Pro installed. Also have the built-in PPPoE working. But something is making me so confused. While surfing the net, some websites connected without problems. But some are taking forever to connect or giving me time our error.

Unable to finish download with download managers

well, this is a bit strange, until I had win2k everything was fine. . . but then I decided to switch to XP which is GREAT except for this 1 thing: I use Download Accelerator Plus 5, Reget, Flashget - and not one of them is able to finish downloads WHEN IT COMES TO BIG FILES (> 500 mb).
