we r having problems setting up a network using two computers. One is connected to broadband and the two pc's are joined by a crossover cable. We have run the wizzard and nothing happens. any ideas.

help this is driving us nuts. We have two computers. the host is connected to broadband and to the other pc via ethernet cards. Both r running windows XP Pro. We have tried the set home network wizzard, dunt work.

Does win2k need static address for DHCP server for my ISP

hi I will appreciate if someone can help me with the following issue with DSL/Cable modem DHCP connection: - Win2k - I have cable modem, which is working fine with my WinMe laptop till now. - I am using a Linksys Wake-on NIC card - My ISP uses DHCP to assign IP addresses.

Login error message when starting 2nd machine

I know this is a basic network question, but when I start my 2nd machine I get a the drive or network connection is unavailable message refering to a shortcut on the desktop to my 1st machine. It doesn't do it on the first machine.

How to find all static IP addresses in use

How can I find all static IP addresses in use on Windows NT server? We have several printers and PCs with static addresses, but they are not in the Reservations list, and do not show up in the Active Leases because they don't use DHCP.

Okay. . here goes. I have just got a DSL connection with a DSL modem. I bought a Linksys 4-port Router so I can connect my computer and my new labtop together to share an internet connection. I have the DSL modem connected to the Router while having an ethernet cable connect to my ethernet port on my computer.

Hi I have a win98SE sytem to which is connected 2 printers and a cable modem. This is connected to 3 win 98 systems and 2 Win XP prof system on my LAN. The problem is that the xp machines can see the network printers but can't print to them, the error is can't start print job the win 98SE system can print without a ...

Wireless broadband with workgroup

I am trying to setup a workgroup to alllow shared access to a wireless broadband internet connection. The ISP does provide for multiple mailboxes. I have an evaluation version of Linkbyte(Comtun) to use for this purpose.

Ok me and some m8s are having a LAN party this friday. 5 PCs: 4 running 2000 Pro 1 running Me (I know!) One 2000 PC will be the server for most of our games and the machines will be connected to an 8 port hub, PCs have 10/100mb PCI cards installed in them.

IIS Stopped working?!

Hi MY IIS 5. 1 (on XP) has been working fine for ages. However, a few months ago, it stopped starting automatically and each time I rebooted, I had to start it manually. Anyway, it still worked fine.

This is the first time i've had a LAN (2x Win2k boxes) since like 1993 or something when i had Win3. 11 & Win95 on a LAN. I remember i was able to send Messages that popped up at the other computer back then.

net send command very slow

Hi. I have the next problem. I have a network with PCs running NT 4. 0 SP5. But one workstation have a problem when send messages via net send command. When it send the messages is fast but when receive a messages is very slow.

Who's leasing my domain name???

How do i find out which company has issued a certiain domain? for example was sold to Fred, by. Is there an administrative website (verisign?) which tells you what sold (more correctly leased) to Fred? Because companies such as (here in Australia) Netregistry, Webtrader ect.

this is the setup that i am trying to acheive, except i only have two computers. i understand the risks of sharing files with this setup, but it is all i can afford right now. i need both of these computers to be connected to the internet, and be able to share files also.

Problem exploring XP network computer from Win 98

I have 4 XP and one Win 98 PC on my network. I am able to explore all of the PC's from any XP PC. I can only explore 2 of the 4 XP PC's from the Win 98's. When I try and explore the 3rd XP PC I get a Access Denied error message and exploring the 4th I get: You must supply a password to make this connection.
