I want to use this box which has win2k on it. . and share the dsl connection with this pos gateway that is running win me ;( I dont have a dsl router but i do have a total of 3 nic cards if that will help me any.

Morning all. I hope everyone had a great summer. Damn I feel like an elementary teacher with that first sentence. Anyways, I just wanted to know if anyone could recommend a good app to import user accounts from a spead sheet or doc file into a Windows 2000 active directory.

Drive mapping DOS to XP

GigaE ok on cross-over cable?

A local store is tempting me with some dirt cheap ($40) Gigabit Nics. I was thinking 'bout picking up a pair & using a cross-over cable to connect them , since GigaE switches are still a little pricey for me.

I hope there is a simple answer anyway 8) Got an XP machine and a Windows ME laptop, netorked through an ADSL router. Both machines are using TCP/IP to see each other and share folders. On both machines I can see the other machine and it's shares.

XP to 98 Dialup Server

I cannot figure out how to get XP Pro to dial into a Win98 dialup Server. I can dial in an connect via two 98 boxes by just entering a password. After connecting I can browse the 98 dialup servers shared directories.

Sorry if this is no the right forum. Does anyone know how to figure how much wattage a server has? I have six computers on a 20A outlet (dedicated). I'm going to be adding a DELL server soon that comes with 900 WATTS.

I have three systems 2 XP Pro, 1 W2K, Links 4 port router. Here is my problem with the main XP it can see folders in the other 2 systems but can not transfer files. The other XP/W2K can not log on to the main system (asking for a password).

Upgrading Nt4 to Win2K through NAT .... not possible?

Trying to keep this short, We have a main office with a PDC and BDC, along with 6 locations that have a BDC. We use cisco routers with NAT enabled. All are running NT4. We upgraded the servers at the main office to Win2k.

IE does not download all images

It happens if I use internet through my win2k pro SP3 PC that is set up with 2 NICs and ICS. If I plug my PC directly into the SDSL modem all pages are finished. See here how IE looks: At the last screenshot you see (28 items remaining) Downloading picture.

here is the set up machines all connected to a hub, which is connected to another hub, which is connected to the switch in the server room. Today I come in and 3 users are complaning of not being able to log on to the network.

The new way of viewing the network computersn windows xp makes me sick. I would rather just have the computer name displayed like in windows 2k and all other versions of windows. Is there a way to change it back to this format? Thanks.

What I want to see is which users are logged on on a small LAN. The View Workkgroup computers only shows the PC's which would be good enough but I'd like to pipe the output (connected users and/or PC's) to a txt file as well, best case regularely updated w/o using scheduler.

DNS, DHCP and RRAS

We upgraded our DC's from NT4 to Win2K. Everything seems to work. . . except for one little problem. Our RRAS is on one of the DC's, and when ever someone RAS's in, they get a DHCP address. This address is then picked up by DNS, and the DC is assigned that address.
