Hosting via Network

In2Deep
Ever since I set up the LAN I have been able to play both IPX and TCP/IP games through the LAN with no problems. However, if I am using the server computer for work and someone tries to set up the client computer to play a game, people outside the LAN can not connect.

Ok, this is probably gonna sound crazy. I have an old laptop with a busted 3. 5 drive. All I have to work with is a parallel port and serial port. I need to find a way to connect it to my Win2k machine.

Network in a box software

In2Deep
I just picked up a dlink, network in a box, and it works fine. Both computers can use the internet and see each other and browse through shared files/folders. My problem is the Internet Connection Sharing Software that came with it (midpoint).

General TCP/IP info links

clutch
I figured that since there are a few people that might not have a firm grip on what TCP/IP is, I would put up some links for them to get the info that can help them in the long run. I found this one this evening while trying to find some PPTP/VPN info for someone else on this forum (whom, by the way, seems to have ...

Local administrative access

ryoko
I am trying to set up NT Workstations so that the user can have the rights to modify anything on the local machine (install apps, edit registry, change drivers, etc. ) like an administrator can. I do not want them to have admin rights on the network.

Multiple proxy settings... is it possible?

ryoko
I need to set up a machine with 2 proxy settings. It is a laptop that will either connect to the lan using our firewall in the proxy settings of the internet browser, or it will be connected to another network which does not use the proxy settings.

TCP ports??

Rudyatek
Hello, I have a networking question. I connect to the internet using a Cisco 675 DSL modem, and I've noticed that it acts as a firewall, meaning I have to enter NAT information into the modem for it to do port mapping, to allow communication through certain ports.

Win2K, Microsoft Client on TCP/IP

kanep
Does the 'Client for Microsoft Networks' run over TCP/IP on Windows 2000? I have a network of 98, NT4 and (one) Win2K systems. The only way the Win2K system can see the others is with NetBEUI installed.

TCP/IP fried after installing SP1

FakeMcCoy
I went and installed SP1, and for a while, things were OK. Then I tried changing the speed with which I connect to my bro's computer via crossover cable. As soon as I clicked OK, icq suddenly died. I went to check my mail, but it couldn't reach the server.

The company I am working for is looking to secure our internet connection a bit more than it is currently. Right now, we have 1 dsl line coming in, and that goes to a proxy server (which offers some security options), but there are a few power users that we have that have static IP's (from our DSL account) so those ...
