Having a Problem with Windows Media Services in Win2k

Hey People; I am running Win2k Adv Server on the Network here. The Problem i have is when you go to the Adminstrative Tools and Launch the Windows Media Services Administrating Page. It Always give me an Error that says : Cannt Connect to the Computer.

XP Version?

Hi, I don't know which XP version I got is correct. When I check from Help - About Windows it display that my xp is Version 5. 1 (Build 2600. . . . ) but if I check the System Properties it says Version 2002.

When you delete stuff from you computer's recycle bin, XP must store it somewhere, because when you do a system restore, you can come back to a point before you even deleted it and it's still in it's original spot.

Please Help! Got a virus!!

I somehow got a virus, and it comverted all *. jpg files into *. vbs files. Even new Jpeg files I put on my comp are also converted automatically. Is there any way to get them back to jpegs? I tried just renaming the extension, but that didn't work.

OK first off I am the local Admin of my W2K box at my job as well as the domain admin and good old W2K Pro won't let me change my fonts on the desktop settings back to small it tells me I have to contact my administrator since I may not have the needed rights any ideas??? And secondly the head programmer runs IFTP ...

.msi Installation-files

Hi, Is this a well-known fact or just here on my pc - all software-installations based on the microsoft msi-system put a copy of the whole installation file on the harddisk?! You can check this unter c:\program files\common files\ wise installation system and under %windir%/installer.

When is SP3 Due?

I was wondering when SP3 for Win2K is Due. I have heard somewhere the BETA is out though, once the official SP3 comes out i'm gonna make an integrated Win2K SP3 Bootable CD do a clean reinstall. .

How reliable is the software RAID available to NT & Win2K users? I'd like to stripe a few of my SCSI drives & put the swapfile & my programs on them. This is not a server, but a home pc that will get rebooted with some regularity (this is what concerns me).

BEEP when adjusting sound volume in system tray

For some reason, now when I adjust the sound volume using the slider from the Volume icon in the Windows 2000 system tray, instead of getting a nice 'ding. wav' to indicate the current sound volume, now I get a loud BEEP from the PC speaker within the case! I was recently told that SP1 is already out for XP. Now the person who said this couldn't rmember where he read this so I dont even know if this is true. He said that it wasnt avalable through microsoft yet though.

Bryce 5 / WinXP

Has or is anyone else having problems running Bryce 5 under WinXP? Everytime I run it everything just seems to die on my computer. I can't click on anything on the taskbar, I have to use the keyboard and windows key or alt tab to switch out of things.

Win2k does not shutdown/restart

windows 2k does not shutdown or restart at all. after it gives my the message that it is shutting down, the window disapears and leaves me with a blank desktop, and i need to restart manually. although when i get back to windows, it doesn't tell me i need to scan any disks due to an incomplete shutdown.
