Win2000 and directcd(ricoh7060a)

I tried to install direct cd 2. 5d on win 2000 as i received it with my writer. After installing, win2k will not load. The adaptec site says i cannot upgrade it to 3. 01 which is supported by win2k, is there anyway to do this please.

IE closes my windows...

I have noticed recently, that if I click on a link to something that is auto downloaded in IE 5. 5, that it will auto-close the current window. This is extremely annoying when I lose my history, and have to find my way back to where I was.

Windows 2k runs out of sockets its driving me crazy i can't open mirc because it says no free sockets , can't ftp , or use IE,, after i reboot its fine for a while. . . . can anyone please help me troubleshoot this.

How to remove directx 8 .

I found this at Mackem Boy got bitten by the beta that is DirectX8. He found that once the Beta was installed his gamepad refused point blank to work. The solution? Get rid of the DirectInput functions and replace them with good old version 7.

I just bought some software that wont run in windows 2000 (magix music generation5). The only thing I can do is put windows 98 back on but I dont want to lose 2000. I have 2 hard drives at the moment.

Norton Antivirus 7...

i'm using win2000, and norton antivirus 7. when i'm using IE, and i click the right button of my mouse trying to view the source of the page, norton antivirus always appears and scan the file, how do i make norton antivirus not to scan the file when i'm viewing the source? thanks!.

Direct X 8 Beta - oops!

Hi, I installed the beta version of DirectX 8 thinking it would be cool to try it. But I beleive it to be an old version of a RC. Now I get certain errors (which suggest it's time limited). Is there anyway of removing or reinstalling the DirectX 7.

OT: Can't execute vbs file

Hi: I just tried to run a vb script and windows tells me that media Player can't open this file. What do I have to associate it with or do to get win2k to execute a vbs file? Thanks Ok. I associated it with wscript.

ICQ and dual monitor

When running a dual monitor setup, is it possible to move ICQ to the second monitor ? Dragging it to the other monitor is not possible, because the edge of the main monitor is catching the ICQ window !

Hey quick question: How important is it to get the SP1 and install it, I have no problems on my Win2k right now that I'm aware of. I've just read many bad stories about SP installing and screwing up working things.

Here's my config: P3 700E, 128mb PC 100 RAM, geForce DDR, 7200rpm HDD, and Windows 2000 Pro I know that Windows 2000 isn't for gaming, but I didn't expect to get such low results on the 3dMark tests.
