Reinstalling Win2k - Major Problem - Help

OK, decided to reinstall Win2k over the top of my present setup of Win2k as had a few config problems with some software - nothing major, but for ease decided to reinstall Win2k. Anyway, durring the first part of setup - when its detecting mouse etc, half way through I get the blue screen saying memory dump.

I was looking over my event veiwer and i saw this message The value named IRPStackSize in the server's Registry key LanmanServer\Parameters was invalid. The value was ignored, and processing continued.

SMC Barricade and Direct Connect Help

Can someone explain to me how to set up an SMC barricade router to allow for connections with direct connect. I have the router set up and everything works fine except I can't connect to anyone on direct connect.

ABit VH6 - Unable to boot from Win98CD

using an Abit VH6 mobo, i set the bios up to boot from the cdrom first, but it will never boot off my win98 cd, i have to format my drive and reinstall win2k and winme but i can't get to a DOS prompt to do it.

registry automatic program startup

Where in the registry can i find the equivilent of the Startup folder. There is this program that i uninstalled but its damn tray icon still comes up. i scoured through the registry and deleted every trace but i cant fix it.

Hi, I am using Internet Explorer 5. I uninstalled some program that ***ociated jpeg and image files to it. Then when I uninstalled it, it messed it all up and my images dont open in Internet Explorer.

I am wondering if Goback by Adaptec is a good program to get? Like if i use it on win98 or windows me. I am wondering because i was reading that it can time travel to a time back when your system was working fine and even recovery from a formated HD which i think its pretty neat.

Network Workgroup problems --- Help Appreciated!

Having some problems with my workgroup - which is weird because I'm pretty sure I have everything set up right. I have a Windows 2000 Server box and a Windows 2000 Professional box both a member of the same WG, called EUROPA and both have distinct statically ***igned IP addresses, with the same subnet mask.

I reformatted my PC this evening because I was stupid and didn't read the directions to my Promise UDMA 100 controller. Anyway. . . . I reinstalled all my software, and I'm getting a big snag at my Norton software.

Win2k lockup for 3 seconds

i got this strange lockup when just doing my stuff with win2k. after a certain time the computer pauses for like 3 seconds and everything stops to work: sound, HD light stands still, mouse is locked.

Multiple Desktops

Ya know how Linux has that nice feature that allows you to switch between several desktops? Is there any 3rd party software out there that gives you that feature? Might MSOFT include this useful feature in Whistler? I know they have included that desktop icon on the quicklaunch bar.

Radeon VIVO - DVD to TV out

I am using a ATI Radeon 64mb card with VIVO and when I go to watch a dvd on my TV with the composite out (yellow wire) I get the macrovision signal p***ed thought the card and on to my TV. This is no fun, and I would really not like to have to buy a stand alone decoder card.

I've been noticing a strange behavior from Outlook since I installed Windows 2000. I have the option enabled to send messages immediately when connected to the internet, yet they dont go through until I manual go into Outlook and click the send/recieve button.
