Installing XP RC1 - Advise please.

Hi folks, I got my RC1 CD today so shall be installing it when I get home. I use Windows 2000 Pro at the mo. Question is should I format and clean install XP or will the upgrade be ok? Not to sure on this one as a m8 installed one of the Betas and had problems upgrading from Windows 2K.

3rd party Firewall for XP?

Ok, RC1. . . . Can't really use XP's own firewall as its not very configurable. I had ZoneAlarm Pro 2. 6 on build 2495, but it kept crashing. Also heard that BlackIce Defender is a little unstable too.

Any firewalls that work with Token Ring?

I run both ZoneAlarm and Black Ice on my system. At home, on dial-up, they work flawlessly. The problem is at school. The college uses a Token Ring network, and although both programs see my internet traffic, neither one sees attacks/probes/etc.

IIS 5.1 from RC1

Anyone having problems with IIS5. 1 in winxp rc1? When I install the webserver it works great, but when I reboot it stops working ****ing dammmit m$ beta crap. . . . .

Nero 5.5 & RC1

I am having a problem installing Nero Burning Rom 5. 5 on RC1. I get to the 'Setup users group' screen and nothing happens. I can't click continue and have to cancel the install. I tried installing in WIN2K Compatability mode and still no luck.

Directcd type application

Anyone have any recommendations for a DirectCD type application for RC-1? I ahve a number of CDRW's that I want to add stuff to, but XP keeps saying that the CD format is not compatible with XP. Ed.

Backing up the Registry Key

Working with MS on solving a problem with Microtek Scanner software. Before doing anything else, however, they want me to back up the Registry Key. I assume they mean the Registry. First, where do you find the Registry Key? Second, can the Registry be backed up to a single 1.

IE6 animated loading logo is so crap!

Just got winXP RC1 installed - why is the IE6 animated loading logo so crap - a wavey little MS flag!? It reminds me of the first mozilla browsers. . . Anyway to change it back to the explorer 'e'?.

Anyone know where I can download the TrueMotion 2. 0 Decompressor for Win2k (used by Final Fantasy VII)? It used to be auto-downloaded by Windows Media Player, but doesn't seem to be available any more.

Norton Autoprotect taking up 65 megs RAM

so if I leave 2k running for a while, eventually some process, that I assume is norton's autoprotect thingy starts leaking 60+ megs of ram, and I cant kill it (access denied). Anyone else have similar probs.

Since yesterday I've been able to sign into messenger once. All other times it reports Signing in to. NET Messenger Service falied because the service is not responding. Is anyone else having this problem?.

Hi Guys, I have been using Windows 2000 for more than a year now without any reinstalls. It has worked incredibly stable for me. Though since a week it is giving me very strange problems. Like After 3 or 4 hours of computer use, it behaves like this.
