Beyond3D has posted an Enemy Territory: Quake Wars Interview

"Huge bright outdoors" and "32 player matches" are likely not the first thoughts that come to mind when one talks about the DOOM 3 engine but Splash Damage and id Software are planning to change this perception with Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars.

The team is hard at work on the game and finishing up the demo they will let people play in a couple of weeks at E3 but Arnout van Meer, ETQW's Technical Director, graciously answered a few questions about the game's improved renderer. Like most at the company, Arnout comes from the mod community where he worked on Quake 3 Fortress and Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory as lead Programmer.

Beyond3D has posted an interview with ATI on the R580 Architecture

In our recent "R580: ATI Radeon X1900 XTX and Crossfire" article we took a look at the architecture of this new ATI chip and the performance it brings with its interesting configuration. With R580 scaling up the number of pixel shader processors fairly drastically, and yet not similarly scaling either the number of texture inputs or ROP outputs, some may still have the impression that R580 is a fairly imbalanced part.

In an effort to dig further into ATI's thinking behind the design of R580 and gain a greater understanding of the decisions that have lead to this process we decided to put some questions to them. In reply we have answers from Eric Demers, from ATI's Desktop Graphics Engineering group, as well as a few comments from Richard Huddy, who brings in the perspective from their ISV relations group, which has a front line role to play with developers and who plays an important part in shaping future hardware.

Hardware Accelerated has posted an interview with Brian Zucker regarding the Blu-Ray Disc format.

From a customer perspective, there are so many companies involved with the development of the format that will ultimately be producing products. The number of product offerings available will certainly be seen as a great benefit. Content protection will be a focus as well and it will be done with both the studios and consumer's interests in mind. Flexibility and the ability to do more with digital content post-purchase is something everyone is looking forward to. Features such as managed copy are being developed with the customer's needs in mind.
