The SATA hard disk drive became a standard in every new system recently. As the IDE disk drives fade away, SATA disk drives will fully replace them in the near future. A few months ago, the SATA II connection protocol was introduced as well, which allows twice the transfer speeds of the SATA protocol, 300MB/s instead of 150MB/s.
