AMD has released its Adrenalin Edition 25.12.1 software update for Windows 10 and 11, which brings several key additions, including support for FSR "Redstone" technology and official backing of two new hardware models. The update also addresses various stability issues such as system crashes during display standby, freezes when using the Radeon software overlay in games, and application crashes with certain games like ARC Raiders and Cyberpunk 2077. Additionally, AMD has resolved problems with texture corruption or flickering in Battlefield 6 on RX 7000 series graphics cards and fixed an issue with saved game loading in Cyberpunk 2077.

AMD Unveils Adrenalin Edition 25.12.1 Software Update

AMD has released its latest graphics software update, called Adrenalin Edition 25.12.1, for both Windows 10 and 11 operating systems.

This new version brings a couple of important additions. Notably, it supports AMD's FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution) "Redstone" tech, part of their popular image upscaling system.

Alongside the fresh features, the update officially backs two new hardware models: the AMD Radeon AI PRO R9600D and the AMD Radeon AI PRO R9700S. Therefore, the software integration of those devices should improve from the outset.

However, things aren't flawless everywhere just yet. Some users might run into an issue if they're playing Counter-Strike 2 (an DX11 game) with Radeon Anti-Lag 2 turned on while using certain AMD graphics cards from older product lines like the Radeon RX 9070 XT. The Anti-Lag option doesn't seem to be showing up properly in that specific scenario.

The update also tackles some stability problems reported by owners of high-end displays equipped with HDMI 2.0 or newer versions like HDMI 2.1's bandwidth modes. There are reports of systems crashing unexpectedly during display standby, hopefully this one is fixed for those users.

Freezes can sometimes happen when popping up the Radeon software overlay inside games on specific hardware combinations. That seems to be addressed, too.

Then there's another potential snag affecting some Radeon RX 9000-series cards, particularly models like the RX 7800 XT or others known in that series (the exact list might vary). Users experimenting with ARC Raiders, particularly in Blue Gate mode, may experience application crashes. AMD says they're looking into this.

Similar issues are being resolved more broadly: certain games can become unstable under specific conditions on some AMD hardware. AMD fixed problems where Cyberpunk 2077 (especially with path tracing enabled) would crash loading saved games. Additionally, AMD addressed an intermittent crash that affected users of Battlefield 6, particularly those using Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processors. However, this issue may also affect users of Radeon RX 7000 graphics cards if they experience issues when switching between media and running Roblox Player.

Furthermore, some specific combinations of hardware (particularly RX 7000 series) and software could lead to texture corruption or flickering in games like Battlefield 6, even when AMD Record and Stream features are active. AMD is confident this won't slip through undetected after launch because they fixed it for that title.

Finally, some users with specific Radeon graphics cards might see shadow rendering problems inside Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War (assuming "Black Ops 7" refers to the latest mainline entry). That bug is being looked into.
