Belim has released FlyOOBE 2.2, a Windows setup assistant updated to allow installation of Windows 11 on unsupported hardware. The new version features a modern interface overhaul with compact design buttons that transform into an icon-only view after being clicked. Performance-wise, the application now starts up faster and uses less memory, making it more efficient.

Belim has just released FlyOOBE 2.2, an updated version of the Windows setup assistant that also allows the installation of Windows 11 on unsupported hardware.

The interface overhaul is a real highlight in this new version of FlyOOBE. The action buttons ditch the clutter, now featuring a modern and compact design that defaults to showing both icons and text labels side-by-side. But once clicked or activated, they smartly transform into an icon-only view for those final steps; it's a slick touch that mirrors the clean look often found in native Windows 11 apps.

Performance-wise, these changes extend beyond mere aesthetics. The FlyOOBE team has significantly boosted how fast their application starts up and cut down memory usage, though it never felt particularly heavy anyway. This focus on speed is definitely appreciated, especially as everyone seems to be pushing for faster computers now.

Interestingly, the Flyby11 upgrade tool operates differently here. Within the main FlyOOBE interface (specifically in a part called UpgradeOOBE or perhaps related to Flyby11 itself?), this component has reverted to its classic form, embracing a simpler design reminiscent of earlier versions. It seems less like they're moving away and more like they've integrated this nostalgic touch as an option.

There's one notable thing, though: the ConsumerESU script from GitHub is essential for much of this new release, but it currently can't be found online. Reasons are unclear; maybe it got removed or was temporarily blocked. It's definitely worth keeping an eye on how Belim handles that missing piece for their users, but the core FlyOOBE 2.2 release does feel like a solid improvement.
