I was recently in Vancouver for a League of Legends tournament. Most of my extended family also live there, so I also spent an afternoon with them. I found one of the most difficult things to do was explain to my family why I was there. If you do not know, currently Riot Games is holding Mid-Season Invitational, or MSI, in Vancouver. This tournament includes the best teams across the globe in a set of best-of-five games to show who is the top team. While most of my family could understand this, they still wondered why I had to attend live. For one, it was not like I was playing. As this is an e-sports event, the tournament is already broadcast for free on YouTube and Twitch. If I am honest, I would have had a more comfortable watching experience too if I were watching from home. Part of the reason I wanted to attend was because my friend wanted to go, but also because I had never attended something like this before.
