Microsoft's PowerToys suite has received an update to version 0.96.1, primarily addressing stability issues that arose after the previous release. The Advanced Paste feature has seen significant improvements and is now cleared for future upgrades, including integration with GPT-5.1 via Azure OpenAI. Additionally, the Image Resizer tool has returned to Windows 10, allowing users to resume resizing tasks. The update also includes a fix for the Awake functionality's timed modes, which should lead to more reliable behavior in background tasks.

PowerToys 0.96.1 released

Microsoft's latest update for the PowerToys suite brings version 0.96.1. This patch mainly tackles some stability headaches that cropped up right after we saw v0.96.0 hit the scene.

First off, the Advanced Paste feature gets its kudos. It’s been given a good polish; several tweaks have landed here. Notably, they took away the OpenAI Prompt Execution Settings properties. This change actually clears the way for newer smarts, like using GPT-5.1 via Azure OpenAI, in the future.

Elsewhere, the Image Resizer tool is back. After skipping a few builds on Windows 10, it’s returned and ready to tackle resizing tasks again.

PowerToys isn't done yet, though. The Awake functionality, designed to keep background tasks running smoothly, also got some needed TLC. Specifically, a problem with timed modes not expiring correctly has now been fixed. This update should lead to much more dependable behavior when things run on timers.
