PowerToys 0.97.1 released

Microsoft recently updated PowerToys to version 0.97.1. The main goal was to tackle some stability issues people reported in the earlier version, v0.97.0. They've been actively fixing these problems.

One change deals with Advanced Paste. There were crashes associated with this tool, particularly on its settings page. The developers fixed it by ensuring proper checks against a setting repository before proceeding, which will hopefully make those interactions smoother for you now.

Looking at the Command Palette: A bug was squashed where personalization options wouldn't show up after installing via the latest MSIX package. Other fixes include properly loading icons from web-based shortcuts and preventing a potential hang when details are being added to AppListItem through lazy-loading methods.

The team also improved Cursor Wrap, adding better multi-monitor support so you can handle windows across several screens more easily. Now it automatically adapts if your laptop lid closes, adjusting the monitor topology settings on the fly. And they've included an option in the settings dropdown menu: choose whether to wrap only horizontally, only vertically, or both.

Peek got a fix too. It used to activate unexpectedly when pressing Space during file renaming, searching, or typing into address bars. Fixed that. Similarly, PowerRename's regex engine was improved, specifically handling the $ symbol correctly now (like in multiline mode). This means you can finally add text at the end of filenames using regex patterns.

For those using Runner frequently, two updates stand out here. The tray icon no longer looks monochrome; it properly follows Windows' system theme settings, blending in better. And the right-click menu on this window now dynamically updates based on what's loaded via Quick Access, making sure you only see relevant choices when they're available.

Finally, for enterprise folks using Group Policy (GPO), there's news. The ADMX template update for PowerToys includes a new policy setting called CursorWrap. This lets IT admins control the cursor wrap feature directly from Group Policy Editor if needed.
