Visual Studio Code 1.105.1 (September 2025 Recovery 1) released

Microsoft has released a new bug-fix version of its popular code editor, called Studio Code 1.105. This update fixes several important problems, as well as some that are unique to the GitHub Copilot Chat extension.

One big change is that users no longer have to turn on agent mode to set their default model experiment. Furthermore, members of the VS Code Team have found a few bugs that were probably the cause of problems for users. Fortunately, the next release is likely to address these potential issues.

The update has successfully verified the functionality of the chat feature, enabling users to communicate with the code editor with ease. The problems have been marked as closed and finished, and both have been fixed recently.

For example, roblourens found issue #270664 two days ago and then fixed it. In the same way, another bug that jrieken reported in #270011 has also been fixed, and verification shows that these repairs worked.
