Windows 11 Builds 26100.7015 and 26200.7015 (Release Preview Channel) released
Microsoft has released Windows 11 build updates (26100.7015 and 26200.7015) to Windows Insiders in the Release Preview Channel running Windows 11 24H2 or 25H2, which include improvements for both gradual and normal rollouts.
One of the key features introduced is a redesigned Start menu that allows users to access their apps more quickly and smoothly. The new layout makes it easier to find what you need, with a scrollable "All" section, category and grid views, and a responsive layout that adapts to your screen size. Additionally, Phone Link integration has been added, allowing users to expand or collapse content from their connected phones.
The voice access feature now includes Fluid Dictation, which makes voice-based dictation smoother and smarter by correcting grammar, punctuation, and filler words in real time. This feature is powered by on-device small language models (SLMs) and offers fast and private processing. Users can also configure a delay before a voice command is executed.
The Settings experience has been improved with the addition of Japanese support for Voice Access, allowing users who speak Japanese to navigate, dictate, and interact with Windows using voice commands. The Settings experience now includes French support for the new agent.
Other notable improvements include Click to Do, which provides a streamlined interaction with Copilot, making it easier to work more efficiently. Users can type a custom prompt directly into the text box, send their prompt and selected on-screen content to Copilot, and access suggested prompts powered locally by Microsoft's AI APIs. Additionally, users can now translate on-screen text with Microsoft Copilot using Click to Do.
File Explorer has also received improvements, including suggested files that show content, such as frequently used or recently downloaded files. Users can turn off this feature in File Explorer Folder Options if preferred. When hovering over a file in File Explorer Home, commands like "Open file location" and "Ask Copilot" are now available.
The Taskbar has been improved with the addition of colored icons to indicate charging states, simplified overlays that don't block percentage bars, and an option to turn on battery percentage. When users hover over an open app icon on the taskbar, a thumbnail preview of the app window appears with a new "Share with Copilot" button.
The lock screen has been updated to display new battery icons featuring color indicators and battery percentage in the lower-right corner.
Microsoft 365 Copilot has received improvements, including the addition of a new page in the Get Started experience for commercial devices managed with an active Microsoft 365 subscription. This page helps users discover and engage with Microsoft 365 Copilot more easily.
The Windows Setup Experience has been improved by allowing users to name their default user folder during setup. On the Microsoft account sign-in page, users can press Shift + F10 to open Command Prompt and type the following command: "cd oobe" followed by pressing Enter, then typing "SetDefaultUserFolder.cmd".
Logging into a PC has been improved with changes made to help improve the performance of loading the taskbar when unlocking a PC after coming out of sleep.
Windows Update has received improvements addressing issues that can cause "Update and shutdown" to not shut down the PC after updating and Windows Update to fail to install with error 0x800f0983.
Remote Credential Guard scenarios have been fixed between the latest Windows 11 builds and Server 2022 (and below).
Several issues have been resolved, including apps and browsers having partially stuck on-screen content when other maximized/full-screen apps are updating in the background, some videos and games being unexpectedly red, Settings crashing when trying to open Settings > System > Display, pen and handwriting not working correctly in apps or app crashes due to unexpected exceptions, and certain apps becoming unresponsive when launching the Open or Save Dialog.
The Administrator Protection Preview feature safeguards administrator users' free-floating admin rights by enabling them to execute all admin functions with instantaneous admin privileges. This feature is off by default and needs to be enabled via OMA-URI in Intune or through group policy.
Normal rollout includes features and improvements that are rolling out as part of this update, including fixes to an issue causing an ACCESS_DENIED error when users attempted to change passwords remotely on member servers or workgroup devices, even with the required permissions. Additionally, an issue where protected content playback fails on some machines after installing KB5064081 has been addressed.
