Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.6760 (Beta Channel) released
Microsoft has rolled out Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.6760 to Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel running Windows 11 24H2. This release introduces new features, improvements, and fixes aimed at enhancing user experience. One of the significant changes is the introduction of a built-in network speed test tool accessible from the taskbar. Users can launch it via the Wi-Fi and Cellular Quick Settings pages or by right-clicking the network icon in the system tray. The tool opens in the default browser and supports testing Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and cellular connections, helping users assess network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
Another notable feature is the new Microsoft 365 Copilot page added to the Get Started experience for managed commercial devices with an active Microsoft 365 subscription. This experience helps users discover and engage with Microsoft 365 Copilot more easily by providing quick access to key features and helpful guidance directly within the Get Started flow.
For insiders with Copilot+ PCs, the File Explorer search box placeholder text has been updated to raise awareness of the improved Windows Search experience introduced earlier this year. Additionally, new StorageProvider APIs have been added for cloud providers to integrate with File Explorer Home, allowing developers to enhance user experience.
The company is also introducing a new 'Wait time before acting' setting in voice access, which enables users to configure the delay before a voice command is executed. This provides greater flexibility for users with varying speech patterns and helps improve accurate recognition.
As part of the gradual rollout, Microsoft has addressed several issues across various areas, including screen readers, Click to Do, taskbar and system tray, File Explorer, lock and login screens, Windows Update, and Settings. These fixes are aimed at resolving problems such as crashes, connectivity issues, and inconsistencies in user experience.
Furthermore, Microsoft is working on addressing known issues affecting Insiders, including temporary changes to features like Emoji 16.0 and the new animations on taskbar previews. The company is also investigating an issue with Click to Do that causes it to launch on the incorrect display and another issue where certain searches show unexpected text instead of expected results.
In terms of specific fixes for everyone in the Beta Channel, Microsoft has addressed issues related to shared files and folders using the SMB v1 protocol, Windows PIX, video playback of protected content, and connectivity with external webcams. However, some Insiders may still experience bugs such as their PC crashing when using an Xbox controller via Bluetooth.
To resolve this issue, users can follow a specific procedure involving the Device Manager to uninstall the driver named "oemXXX.inf (XboxGameControllerDriver.inf)".
