Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.6780 (Beta Channel) released
Microsoft has released Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.6780 to Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel running version 24H2 of Windows 11.
The most important of these updates is a new Settings agent for Copilot+ PCs that helps users make changes more quickly by suggesting actions based on recent changes to settings. Along with this new feature, the search function on the Settings homepage has also gotten better. Users now get more results, along with helpful dialog boxes that explain their current settings and suggest changes when needed.
For example, if someone searches for "increase volume," they will get a message telling them if the volume is already at its highest level, along with a slider that lets them change it if necessary. This streamlined method is meant to save users time by getting rid of steps that aren't necessary.
The Drag Tray feature is another important new feature. It has been improved to support sharing multiple files and shows relevant apps, making it easier for users to move files to the folders they want. Additionally, visual cues have been added to the Click to Do feature to improve it for users. For example, emails and tables are now highlighted, which encourages users to act more quickly and effectively.
Along with these improvements, several other updates have been made available. For example, the Administrator Protection feature in Windows Security has been brought back, and a new OneDrive icon has been added to account settings. A new Run dialog is also gradually being made available, and the dark mode experience is constantly being enhanced.
The most recent update also includes several fixes that are meant to resolve problems with the Click to Do feature, Taskbar system functions, File Explorer crashes, interactions with the Start menu, and search results that aren't what you expected. Specifically, this update aims to resolve the issue that frequently led to app crashes for some users in the previous version.
It's important to note, though, that some known problems continue to occur. For instance, new animations for the taskbar have been turned off for now because they interfere in the way of sharing windows. Furthermore, dark mode still has problems, like the copy progress dialog flashing when you switch to details view. Some insiders have also said that they receive bug checks when they use an Xbox controller via Bluetooth. However, instructions exist to resolve this issue by uninstalling the controller-linked driver.
The main goals of the latest update are to make Windows 11 easier to use, fix important bugs, and slowly add user feedback, all of which will make the overall experience better for Insiders.
