Microsoft has rolled out Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.6982 to Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel, offering various enhancements and improvements for users running Windows 11 24H2. This release brings several new features that are being gradually phased into the Beta Channel through a toggle switch found in Settings > Windows Update.

The update introduces 'Copy & Search', a feature enabling users to search for copied text directly from the taskbar's search box with just one click. When text is copied anywhere within Windows, a 'paste gleam' will appear in the search box on the taskbar, and clicking it allows for instant searching of the copied text.

For customers using Copilot+ PCs, the update introduces a new setting called 'Wait time before acting' in Voice Typing, giving users the flexibility to configure their voice command delay. This setting ranges from 'Instant - 0.1 seconds' to 'Very Long - 3.0 seconds', catering to various speech patterns and enabling more accurate recognition.

Another feature included is Proactive Memory Diagnostics, which aims to improve system reliability by conducting memory scans after unexpected restarts or bug checks. Upon rebooting, users may be prompted to run a quick Windows Memory Diagnostic scan that takes around five minutes on average. If a memory issue is found and resolved, the user will receive a notification post-reboot.

The Beta Channel also receives several changes and improvements through the toggle switch, including enhanced Device Cards in Settings for better readability and streamlined navigation. The settings page now has an updated scrollbar to show all search results directly within the flyout without requiring users to open a separate results page.

Additionally, Click to Do has been improved with helpful hints assisting unfamiliar users in discovering powerful actions that enable quick and intuitive workflows. However, there is a known issue where these hints appear on multiple monitors and do not dismiss when one of them is closed.

The Start menu flyout now matches the size of the Windows Search flyout for a smoother transition during searching. File Explorer Home has been updated to include hover actions for faster file management available for enterprise customers. The new animations on taskbar have also begun to roll out again, following an earlier restart due to some issues.

Furthermore, Windows Studio Effects has expanded its support to additional cameras on Snapdragon-powered and AMD Copilot+ PCs as part of a gradual rollout previously limited to Intel-powered Copilot+ PCs.

Microsoft is gradually rolling out several fixes to the Beta Channel. These include resolving issues in Click to Do with Phi Silica text actions, the taskbar hiding prematurely upon pen hover, voice access not working correctly when interacting with the taskbar, the touch keyboard disappearing after logging into a PC, the search icon animation loop in File Explorer, widget login issues, and truncated UAC prompt text.

However, Microsoft is currently investigating some known issues. These include an issue affecting keyboards or USB devices for a small number of Insiders after the latest flights, problems with the Start menu not opening when clicked but working upon pressing the Windows key, apps not displaying in the system tray as expected, and issues with File Explorer's copy dialog animation and layout in dark mode.
