Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26220.5790 (Dev Channel) with Copilot+ improvements released

The latest Windows 11 Insider Preview build, version 26220.5790 (KB5065779), has been released to the Dev Channel for Windows Insiders on Windows 11 25H2. This update introduces several new features and improvements, primarily for Copilot+ PCs.

New Features:
  1. Fluid Dictation in Voice Access: A groundbreaking feature that enhances voice dictation by automatically correcting grammar, punctuation, and filler words using on-device small language models for speed and privacy. It is currently available in all English locales and works seamlessly in most text applications.
  2. Windows Studio Effects on Additional Cameras: This feature expands the capabilities of Windows Studio Effects to a broader range of camera hardware, including external USB webcams or the laptop's rear camera. This allows users to enjoy AI-powered camera enhancements with alternative cameras.
Changes Gradually Being Rolled Out:
  1. Agent in Settings: A new agent experience in Settings is being rolled out to Insiders whose primary display language is set to French.
  2. File Explorer Home: File Explorer Home now offers on-hover actions for faster file management, such as "Open file location" and "Ask Copilot about this file." This feature currently requires a Microsoft account login and will support Work or school accounts (Entra ID) in a future flight.
Fixes Included:
  1. General: An underlying issue causing increased lag in various scenarios has been fixed.
  2. Taskbar & System Tray: Misaligned app preview windows in the taskbar after a display resolution change have been resolved.
  3. File Explorer: Issues with the context menu switching between views when right-clicking with certain apps installed have been addressed.
  4. Settings: An issue causing Settings > System > Storage > Temporary files to get stuck during scanning has been resolved.
  5. Other: An event related to the "Microsoft Pluton Cryptographic Provider" failing to load at boot has been fixed.
Known Issues:
  1. Some PCs may experience a bugcheck (green screen) during hibernation, and users are advised to avoid hibernating their PCs until this is resolved.
  2. The Shared section in File Explorer Home might be visible without content for some users.
  3. For developers, PIX on Windows cannot play back GPU captures on this OS version; a new PIX release is expected by the end of September.
  4. Some Insiders are experiencing audio issues where audio stops working, and Device Manager shows devices with a yellow exclamation mark. A workaround involving updating the device driver is provided.
  5. An issue where using an Xbox Controller via Bluetooth causes a PC bugcheck is being investigated.
