Microsoft Releases Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 27934 for Canary Channel Insiders
In its latest move, Microsoft has rolled out Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 27934 to users participating in the Canary Channel program. This update comes with a range of improvements and fixes that aim to enhance overall performance.
Key Features and Enhancements
- General Improvements: The build includes several general enhancements designed to refine the user experience for Insiders testing this version on their PCs.
- Windowing Fixes: Microsoft has addressed an issue causing an increase in DWM crashes, which might result in a brief black screen appearing during normal system operation.
- Terminal App Fix: A previously reported problem where cmd launched from the Run dialog might open in Windows Console Host instead of Windows Terminal (despite being set as default) has been fixed.
Additional Fixes
The company has also resolved an underlying issue that was causing certain UWP apps to crash when scrolling through content. This update ensures a smoother and more stable experience for users.
Ongoing Investigations and Known Issues
While the latest build offers several improvements, Microsoft is still investigating some known issues:
- Settings App Stuck: Users have reported an issue where the Settings > System > Storage > Temporary files option gets stuck while scanning files. The company is currently looking into this matter.
- Previous Windows Installations Not Shown: Another investigation is underway to resolve a problem where previous Windows installations are not displayed.
Known Issues in File Explorer
In dark mode, some users may notice that the red color used for low space drives appears lighter than expected on "This PC." Additionally, other colors might be incorrect, including the use of black to represent remaining free space instead of a more visible alternative.
Reset and Recovery Issue
The "Reset this PC" option in Settings > System > Recovery is currently not functioning as intended. To address this issue, Microsoft recommends rolling back to the previous build and performing a PC reset from there. The next Canary Channel flight will resolve this issue.
