Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 27943: Canary Channel Update
Microsoft has announced the release of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 27943 to Windows Insiders in the Canary Channel, bringing a small set of general improvements and fixes that enhance the overall experience for Insiders running this build on their PCs.
Changes and Improvements
This update includes a range of enhancements designed to improve the user experience. Key changes include:
General Fixes: A number of issues have been addressed in this build, including a problem that caused Settings > System > Storage > Temporary files to get stuck when scanning files, as well as an issue where the entry to clean up previous Windows Installations did not show in Storage Settings.
Taskbar Improvements: Microsoft has fixed an issue where minimizing an app and switching between desktops might result in a duplicate preview thumbnail appearing when hovering over the app in the taskbar.
Display and Graphics Enhancements: A problem that could cause HDR to unexpectedly turn off immediately after enabling it in Settings has been resolved.
Other Fixes: Issues causing an event saying “The “Microsoft Pluton Cryptographic Provider” provider was not loaded because initialization failed” with error 57 to appear in Event Viewer, as well as a problem where pressing Enter would not confirm the PIN when casting from Quick Settings, have been addressed. Additionally, another fix has been made to help with Group Policy Editor having unexpected large blank areas and not rendering correctly with the Chinese display language.
Known Issues
Despite these improvements, there are some known issues that Insiders may experience:
General: Some Windows Insiders may encounter a rollback attempting to install this build, resulting in either an 0xC1900101-0x20017 error or 0xC1900101-0x30017 error. Unfortunately, retrying to install the build will result in another rollback. Microsoft is working on a correction.
Arm64 PCs: Insiders with Arm64 PCs may experience an increase in bugchecks (green screens) with error IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL in the latest Canary builds. Microsoft is actively working on a fix for this issue.
PIX on Windows: PIX on Windows is unable to play back GPU captures on this OS version, but a new release of PIX is expected by the end of September that will address this problem. In the meantime, if you are impacted, you can use the “Send Feedback” button in PIX or contact Microsoft on the DirectX Discord server for assistance.
Graphics: Microsoft is investigating a graphic issue that is causing some Insiders to experience screen flickers when using the browser and potentially in other scenarios.
Audio: Some Windows Insiders in the Canary Channel are experiencing an issue where audio stops working, and Device Manager shows one or more devices with a yellow exclamation mark. Instructions have been provided on how to resolve this problem by updating drivers.
