Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 27954 released
Microsoft has rolled out Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 27954 to Windows Insiders in the Canary Channel for testing purposes. The new build is designed to enhance overall performance and stability, incorporating a limited set of general enhancements and fixes aimed at refining the user experience.
In terms of networking improvements, this update addresses an issue that had prevented some users from establishing connections to shared files and folders when utilizing the Server Message Block (SMB) v1 protocol on NetBIOS over TCP/IP NetBIOS (NetBT). This fix is expected to resolve connectivity issues for Insiders who had been affected by this problem.
Despite the efforts put into build 27954, a few known issues persist. Insiders with Arm64 PCs may experience an increase in bugchecks or green screens, often accompanied by error codes such as IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. Microsoft's development team is actively working on resolving this issue to provide a smoother user experience.
Additionally, developers using PIX on Windows might encounter difficulties playing back GPU captures due to limitations inherent to this OS version. To address this concern, a new PIX release is planned for the end of September, which will resolve the playback issues. Until then, affected developers can either submit feedback through the "Send Feedback" button in PIX or reach out to Microsoft on the DirectX Discord server for private builds and support.
