Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 28000.1340 (Canary Channel) released
Microsoft has released Windows 11's latest Insider Preview build, number 28000.1340, which has landed in the Canary Channel for Windows Insiders. The update primarily concentrates on enhancing the user experience and resolving a few persistent bugs.
This latest preview isn't revolutionary; it mostly settles in and brings some small refinements across the board along with a few bug fixes specifically aimed at smoothing things out for our Insider community testing this build. It's not bringing massive new feature sets usually associated with major releases like 24H2 or 25H2, but rather continuing their development work.
A key point is how this release fits into that pattern. The features actually introduced in the October non-security preview, those versions from late last year, are now making their way slowly into this build over time. So things that originally debuted with older previews, like version 24000 or before, if they're still relevant and ready to roll out, will be appearing here too as we progress.
But there's a catch for Insiders using the Canary Channel right now. The admin protection feature got temporarily disabled during this update due to some technical problems. Microsoft really does appreciate everyone sticking with it through these little hiccups and understanding that our team is working hard behind the scenes.
Speaking of reliability, there's good news for anyone dealing with storage setups in Windows 11. A significant issue has been fixed where creating a Storage Space or a Storage Spaces Direct cluster could unexpectedly crash the whole system. That problem is now resolved, meaning users should find their storage configurations much more stable and dependable going forward.
