Microsoft has pushed Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 28020 to Canary channel users with a focus on touchpad controls and security transparency. Laptop owners can now adjust the right-click zone size in Settings to prevent accidental triggers, though this feature requires hardware that supports pressable surfaces. The Windows Security app introduces visual badges for Secure Boot status while the Feedback Hub update fixes window behavior and adds mouse back button navigation. These improvements are rolling out gradually so Insiders should see the new toggles and interface changes appear in their settings over the next few days.

Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 28020 Adds Right-Click Zone Control and Secure Boot Checks

Microsoft has pushed a new update to the Canary channel that tweaks how touchpads handle right-clicks. This Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 28020 also brings better visibility into Secure Boot status and fixes some bugs in the Feedback Hub app. Users on early preview builds will notice these changes rolling out over the next few days without needing to request a reboot immediately.

Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 28020 Touchpad Settings Get Size Controls

The most noticeable change for laptop users involves the touchpad right-click zone size setting found within Settings under Bluetooth and Devices. You can now choose between default, small, medium, or large options to define how much of the bottom-right corner triggers a right-click action. This is particularly useful if you find your cursor accidentally triggering menus when you are just trying to scroll near the edge of the trackpad. The option only appears on hardware with pressable surfaces for touchpads so standard clickpads will not show this setting in the dropdown menu. Manufacturers may still provide their own customization apps which could add a Custom entry to preserve those values if you have already adjusted them elsewhere.

Secure Boot Status Gets Visual Badges and Certificate Info

Microsoft is finally making the Secure Boot experience more transparent within the Windows Security app under Device security. You will see green, yellow, or red icon badges alongside new text that reflects your device certificate status without needing to dig into command lines. While this helps consumers understand their boot state better, enterprise IT managed devices and servers have this feature disabled by default so organizations can manage it remotely. The update rolls out Secure Boot certificates on consumer devices but some business PCs might require a manual check to see the new interface elements immediately after installation.

Feedback Hub Window Behavior and Back Button Fixes

Insiders who rely on Feedback Hub will notice the window remembers its size across sessions now that version 2.2604.101.0 is rolling out. The application also supports using the mouse back button to navigate between pages which reduces reliance on touch gestures or keyboard shortcuts. Community feedback visibility issues have been addressed so users should see more relevant community responses than before. Upvote buttons for feedback will display correctly now for Insiders using Chinese display language which fixes a previous localization bug that was causing confusion in regional forums.
