Microsoft has recently rolled out a non-security update (KB5065789) for Windows 11 24H2 and 25H2, which provides several improvements and fixes across various features of the operating system.

The September 2025 non-security update is now available for devices running Windows 11, featuring enhancements to ensure a consistent experience across all supported versions. This update includes bug fixes, performance optimizations, and new features designed to improve user productivity and overall system reliability.

One notable improvement in this release is the gradual rollout of updates, which allows users to receive them at different times rather than simultaneously. This approach aims to minimize disruptions and provide a more seamless experience for end-users.

The Click to Do context menu has been updated with AI-powered action tags that help users discover the latest and most widely used actions. Additionally, the Summarize action in Copilot now provides more concise summaries of text entities, making it easier for users to quickly grasp complex information.

Users can also now move hardware indicators such as brightness, volume, airplane mode, and virtual desktops to different positions on their screen by accessing Settings > System > Notifications. Moreover, IT administrators no longer need to restart explorer.exe after applying the pinning policy, resulting in improved overall system performance.

File Explorer has received significant updates with AI-powered image actions that enable users to edit images or summarize documents using visual search, blur background, erase objects, and remove background features. Users can access these features by right-clicking on a file and selecting AI actions from the context menu.

Microsoft 365 customers can now use AI actions in their documents, such as generating summaries of files stored in OneDrive and SharePoint, without the need to open each individual document. This feature is available for users with an active Microsoft 365 subscription and a Copilot license.

The File Explorer context menu has been updated to remove the accent-colored backplate behind packaged app icons when right-clicking on a file. Additionally, underlying changes have been made to improve the performance of launching cloud files from File Explorer and loading context menus.

Several fixes have also been implemented in this release, including resolving issues with icons overlapping on the desktop when using increased text scaling and correcting icon mirroring problems in Arabic or Hebrew display languages.

Other notable features include the introduction of Braille Viewer in Narrator, which provides a real-time Braille equivalent for on-screen text displayed on a refreshable Braille display. Users can access this feature by pressing Windows logo key+Ctrl+Enter to open the Braille viewer and start Narrator.

Narrator has also been improved with natural language commanding, allowing users to speak commands more naturally using filler words and synonyms. This feature is now available for Intel and AMD-powered Copilot+ PCs.

In terms of gaming, Xbox controller support for Windows 11 has been enhanced with the ability to open Game Bar by short pressing the Xbox button. Additionally, underlying changes have been made to improve performance when gaming with overlays active on top of users' games.

The Voice Access feature now provides natural language commanding in Voice access, enabling users to speak commands naturally using filler words and synonyms. This feature is available for Copilot+ PCs.

Furthermore, several fixes have been implemented across various features, including Hyper-V, Input, Networking, Servicing, Windows Hello, and Windows Sandbox.
