NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT Technology Report
Tech ARP posted NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT Technology Report.

On November 9th, 2006, NVIDIA launched the G80 GPU. Not only does this new GPU boast an entirely new massively-parallel unified architecture, it also marks the beginning of a new era in 3D graphics - DirectX 10.

Almost a year later, NVIDIA is finally launching a refresh of the G80 GPU - the NVIDIA G92 GPU. It is also known as the D8P, short for Desktop 8 Performance. Although the basic architecture remains unchanged from the G80, the G92 comes with some nifty improvements. This is why the G92 has 73 million more transistors than the G80 even though it actually has fewer shader processors.

Revoltec Zirconium Review
BurnOutPC.com has just posted a review on the Revoltec Zirconium Case.

Revoltec has made a simple, yet attractive case for not too much money. The Zirconium is currently sold for around 60 euro's. The front of the case is sleek and the I/O ports on top are a nice addition for easy access. The blue led's in the front lit's up nicely. Although the case is a bit cheaper, it surely doesn't have to be less good than other cases that are twice the price of the Zirconium. The Zirconium has the same internals as higher end cases and the finishing touches are just as good. No sharp edges to be found and no vibrations from hard drives either.

Virtual-Hideout posted Mushkin 2x1GB HP3-10666 DDR3 Memory Kit Review

Given the state of the DDR3 supplies and how the market is continuing to speed up with more and more variations of kits available, it was no surprise when we received Mushkin's Enhanced HP3-10666 2GB Memory kit. This is the beginning launch of their DDR3 memory line following up their very successful DDR2 memory which we've been privileged to test. Given the history of their memory modules, we expect something formidable none the less. Thanks in part to ASUS, we have a motherboard well tuned and tested that can support these modules.

ASUS EN8800GT 512MB video card review
Elite Bastards posted ASUS EN8800GT 512MB video card review

Rather than simply using this shrink to produce a far smaller GPU core than the behemoth that is G80, much of this reduction in size has been put back into increasing transistor count and adding certain functionality to G92. Most notably, the video processing engine, which had its own die (dubbed NVIO) on previous GeForce 8800 boards, is now integrated as part of the GPU core itself in a more traditional fashion. As well as this, the video engine aboard G92 has been updated to utilise the 'VP2' processing capabilities previously seen on NVIDIA's mid-range G84 core, giving boards based around G92 full hardware accelerated playback of High Definition content encoded using VC-1 and H.264 formats, albeit minus the initial bitstream processing and decoding functionality in hardware for VC-1 content available on some ATI parts.

The Antec Quattro 850W is a high end bargain power supply, if the term even exists, truly a testament of the meaning of value. For the price of a low end power supply, the Quattro 850W is up to par with power supplies priced in a much higher price bracket, matching them in performance and features.

Logitech G51 Surround Sound Speaker System Review
OCIA.net takes a look at the Logitech G51 Surround Sound Speaker System in their latest review.

There is another piece to the puzzle that many gamers totally overlook and skimp on: audio. A decent 2.1 system is more than enough to get you by, but if you really want to hear the game as it was intended to be heard, surround sound is a must. Surround sound totally immerses you in the game you are playing and gives you a true advantage over someone using headphones or 2.1 audio.

PC Perspective posted Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650 Yorkfield Processor Review

Here's where it gets even better: when running under a full load with 4 threads on CineBench 10 the QX9650 uses 52 fewer watts than the QX6850 based on the 65nm process technology. Only two processors, the dual-core X6800 and E6750 CPUs, run at lower wattages, but they have HALF the processing cores. When we bring in the UT3 testing, the QX9650 is again using 54 fewer watts than the quad-core QX6850 and even less than the dual-core X6800.

Intel's Core 2 Extreme QX9650 processor Review
Bit-Tech published a review of Intel's Core 2 Extreme QX9650 processor

We think it's fair to say that Intel's Penryn architecture can be regarded as a success, as it offers some decent performance enhancements over existing processors, while using much less power in the process. Most of the success can be attributed to the "brute force" methods like the 50 percent larger cache instead of the more delicate features like SSE4, which requires specific optimisation in software to see the benefits. However the most interesting changes should be in the mobile parts which feature some great new technologies.

Specifically, the Core 2 Extreme QX9650 is of course a processor that everyone would love to own, but very few will have the money or need for it. Most of us will want to wait for the mainstream dual- and quad-core 45nm CPUs to arrive, but the Extreme Edition has never been about volume. It's about a technological demonstration that creates a halo effect to help sell the more mainstream-orientated products. I guess you could think of the QX9650 as the Bugatti Veyron of the CPU world - it annihilates everything in its path.

OCC has published a new review of the ZEROtherm Hurricane HC92 Cu 8800 VGA Cooler

After removing the cooler from the packaging it really looks like nothing else I have seen to cool a video card. It features four heatpipes connected to copper fins with an enclosure over the heatsink that has an alien type look. The top of the enclosure has a grill meant to symbolize the high wind movement in a Hurricane. Looking at the under side of the cooler you can see just how large it really is. The contact surface is protected from damage with a clear adhesive tape that includes a warning message to remove before installing.

Logitech G15 (Revision 2) Keyboard Review
Virtual-Hideout posted Logitech G15 (Revision 2) Keyboard Review

The original G15 was meant to cater to a niche group of gamers and enthusiasts, and attempting to make it more "mainstream" by toning down some features totally defeats the original purpose. Added to this, the MSRP of
the new G15 is $100 USD, compared to only $80 USD for the original G15 when it came out in 2005. This of course doesn't mean that the G15 v2 is a bad keyboard. On the contrary, I was very pleased with it, and compared with other options, I believe it is the best buy. On its own, the G15 v2 is a very good keyboard, and if the original G15 had not existed I would probably rate it as the best.

Neoseeker has published a review of BFG's 8800 GT OC.

Gamers rejoice. The age of DX10 has now only just begun. The performance of the 8800 GT OC embarrasses the mostly unimpressive 8600 GTS and HD 2600 XT cards, and dethrones the bang-for-the-buck attractiveness of the 8800 GTS 320 MB. This is a true performance card for the gaming masses. This GPU has enough horsepower to get you gaming in DX10, and enough horsepower to deliver any sort of DX9 experience you are looking for.

Hardwarecanucks has reviewed the EVGA 8800GT 512MB Superclocked Edition.

I may as well just come out and say it: what we have here is the pinnacle of modern graphics card design and ingenuity. Nvidia has released a product that is absolutely stunning in every meaning of the word and with the 8800GT Superclocked Edition, EVGA has done nothing but improve on it every step of the way. What they have done is made an excellent graphics card even better by overclocking it while maintaining their Lifetime Warranty and adding a pretty good software package to boot.

The Guru of 3D takes a look at the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512 MB reference and BFG GeForce 8800 GT 512 MB OC edition video cards

The GeForce 512MB 8800 GT will fill a gap, a gap that the 320MB model has set. Yet due to it's lower pricing (199 to 259 USD) will compete directly with the 8600 GTS, which is interesting as the 8800 GT will annihilate that graphics card performance wise, let me add a little clue, these cards perform close to the 8800 GTX and are pretty darn impressive at this price level.

Guru3D will review the NV reference card, the BFG 8800 GT OC edition and we'll manage the cards to be setup for some nice SLI testing.
