I have a dell demension 4400 the motherboard recently died. I've read the many problems encountered in trying to upgrade or replace with a non dell mo bo.

If I wanted to build a new system (new case, power supply, mobo) can I easily use my dell drives etc... without compatibility issues?

Thanks

I'd say so, why not? If they're std. IDE/EIDE disks, that shouldn't be a problem I say...

P.S.=> Afaik, "DELL DRIVES" are just hdd's bought from an OEM of harddrives, probably like Western Digital, Seagate, Maxtor, IBM, Hitachi, etc. BUT gets re-labelled by DELL possibly upon installation into their machines! apk

The only drive/drives that may require some fudging are the floppy and sometimes the CD-RW/DVD-Reader due to the Dell case design. They don't always come with a standard faceplate or none at all as the front of the case cover does this function

The drive/drives themselves will still function, just may not look as good without the proper face plate is all.
