Just one other thing. What exactly happens when you try and install the game?
I was looking at this site earlier http://www.gamespot.com/pc/adventure/interstate76/news.html?mode=all and they mention 3 patches for that game. Have you tried all 3?

It comes up with a message saying my computer doesnt accept this program and to ask activision for a updated version. I just need to install it which it just does the install shield then another background comes up and says what i said above.

It's a long shot but Wilhelmus signature suggests trying this.

For "16 bit subsystem" error:
Copy "autoexec.nt" and "config.nt" files from "C:/Windows/Repair" to "C:/Windows/System32"

Ok I think the reason you aren't seeing it is that it is hidden. What you need to do is go to start, my computer and then go up to tools, then open folder options. Next click on the view tab and then put a mark in the show hidden files/folders. Then you should be able to do what Wilhelmus signature suggests.

Hopefully that will fix the problem for you.

Good Luck

System 32 is not normally a hidden folder but may be to non admins.

Try Start > Run

Type in the box C:\WINDOWS\system32 then push enter and the system 32 folder should open.

That's a lot of objects, I only have 2164.

That may be due to spyware or other things. A good thing to do is also scan your system for viruses and spyware and such.

Back on topic, yes replace them, but you can make a back up copy if you want. Rename the ones in system32 to autoexec.nbk and config.nbk and then copy the new onces in.

And if you haven't done so, please please update to SP2. Reason: SP1 has horrifying support for older games, especially w95 and older games. After going to SP2, use compatability for w95 for this game.

Yeah that is over twice as many as I have with XP Pro, 2178. Try the things Misosoup suggests and we can go from there.

It didnt work but it made the install sheild just zoom by, usually it takes 3-4 mins to finish. What the heck is Sp2? I've heard of it before but do I need to buy it or can I download it?

SP2 is the security updates to Win. If you go to http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/default.aspx?ln=en-us and run the express setup. It will check your system to make sure you have the latest updates.
Just be sure to set a system restore point before you do the updates (if there are any you need). You go to start, all programs, accessories, then to system tools and then down to system restore.
Always make sure you do a system restore before you update your computer. The updates sometimes can cause problems.

I've got the latest updates... Is there a different way to run compatibility? The way i tried was just right clicking on setup then compatibility.

I just right click on the program icon, then choose properties and you can then see the compatibility tab.

Thats the only way I know how to do it. Another possible choice is to partition your hard drive and run whichever OS that game needs on that partition.

OS stands for operating system. So I would guess that game needs either Win 95 or Win 98.
To partition means to split your hard drive up into smaller pieces.
