The game works but not flawless. To make it work like in Windows 98 you should enable Windows98-mode in shortcut properties and preferences and dropdown menu will work, but I wouldn't recommend you Win98 compatibility mode at all.

I am running XP with SP2 and can play USAF,
although the menu for Prefrences are not smooth as mentioned earlier in other topics on the net.
For those who can' play at all. Try this.
1. Uninstall
2. Remove all references in the registry (
with regedit, DO BACKUP).
3. Re-install.
4. Look in root of installed drive, and
remove ini-file called "Jdiagnostics.ini"
5. Go to folder and run "USAFConfig.exe"
6. Now you should able to play.
7. If still the game won't start set by
properties torun "USAF.EXE" in 95 mode.
Hope this helps.

I run WinXP SP2 and USAF 1.06 (from CD) and I can start the game and play one mission without problem. After that one mission the games starts to load very slowly and crashes most times.
When I exit and restart the game I can again play one mission.

Hi, I have Windows XP SP2, P4 Intel 3.4 prescott,
3gbs memory,MSI motherboard 865PE Neo2-P,and Seagate Barracuda 250 uata harddrive. I have finally gotten Jane's installed,
and running reasonablely well. Mother board has built in sound.Realtek AC97. Updated it to the lastest drivers and Video card drivers. Nvidia 7600GS 512mb drivers updated. Now I went to my computer, opened properties, opened advanced.Went to preformance settings and clicked adjust for best preformance. Then I went into my video card
and adjusted for High preformance..And it works really well. Hope this helps someone.

Windows 7 Ultimte 64-bit, Toshiba Satellite A505, with DirectX 11. Tried compatibility modes 95, 98, Windows XP Service Pack 3. Tried "Primary Display Driver" & "Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator". Still, no luck, yet. Has anyone figured out how to run Janes USAF Combat Simulation on Windows 7?
