ha, when you try to run the setup it crashes itself, so you don't even get the operunity to install it, funny that Pantasmagoria installs and 2 doesn't.

Tried running it normal and it dies with a script error. Updated to 1.1 and now it says it can't find scidll.dll.

Use the DOS version. Sound is a quite choppy though.

Possible installation of VDMSound may rectify sound problems.

Games crashes if Windows XP takes focus to another application so make sure you play with no other programs running!

Installing works, but startscreen of the game looks incomplete and closes after i press the only visible button. I downloaded the dospatch for it and then it worked. It looks crappy playing it in 8bit color depth and its jerky, although i'm using an Athlon 2400+. The dospatch works under XP, too. There's a special modification for the patch to make it work under XP and 200x. Without it the paths in the batches will fail and you'll have to reconfigure by yourself (accordiung to the readme)
One further solution would be to use Virtual PC to run a Windows 98 within one of the incompatable systems and play it within the emulated windows.

personally I spent hours trying the converting to dos and using vdmsound solution with no luck at all. never even got the game started up.

looking for alternate solutions I found this homebrew xp installer that seems to work

http://www.squirtthecat.com/games/phantasmagoria_2/index.html

I haven't played through it entirely so there may be some issues at certain points still, but this has been the only way I've been able to even get the game to load up at all on xp.
