The windows installer will prevent you, so use the DOS one. Aftermath must be installed to play single player or skirmish. Unfortunately, you can't go back to regular skirmish.

There is a serious bug that freezes RA. I tried many ways to fix it [setting compatibillity with win95 on all executables, 3.03 patch, etc.] but it doesn't help much. Game will run fine for a ONE time per system boot - for e.x. if i run RA and play xxx skirmish matches/single player maps and then EXIT game back to Windows I will have freeze next time I run it [after starting the proper game match - random moment freeze[max after 5 mins of play], music will stop in 7 seconds]. I noticed that RA.dat process is having problem [terminating RA.exe wont terminate game entirelly] it just get high CPU usage and start to eat more and more RAM [memory leak perhaps?]. It happen only if I run game via ra95.exe which, following EA words, is emulating this dos game in windows95. However playing proper DOS version [via DOSBOX] wont cause this problem! But then I loose high resolution, better graphics and internet play possibility! On older Windows'es this problem doesn't happen so it must be NT Compatibillity issue. I will look around a bit to see if anyone found a way to overwalk it and post here back.
