10 Useful OS X Yosemite Features You Might Have Missed

Ever since OS X Yosemite came out, everyone has been looking to see if they can find all of the hidden features not so widely reported by Timmy up on his stage.  So I decided to go a-hunting and see what I could find. After much hunting, here are the that I personally found useful, in no particular order. I have highlighted the word useful because I have missed ones out that I think are not useful. Because useful is what were all about here at MakeUseOf.

ECS Z97-PK Deluxe mATX Motherboard Review

I am constantly asked to help build a low cost system for the casual gamer. Generally, I'll point them to an AMD based system, which doesn't compare to an Intel Core i5 system, but generally it's within people's budget and does what they need. Earlier this year, Intel released the Pentium Anniversary G3258, which comes unlocked and has been found to be a massive overclocking processor. ECS has released the Z97-PK Deluxe mATX motherboard is designed for Socket 1150 processors, with a focus on the Intel Pentium G3258 '20th Anniversary Edition' processor. Right now, the ECS Z97-PK Deluxe motherboard is a little hard to find as it is just being released, but you can find it at a few places for $79.99 plus shipping. This makes it the lowest priced Intel Z97 board on the market and I just had to take a look at it.

Galax GeForce GTX 980 SOC Review

We review the GALAX GeForce GTX SOC edition located under SKU code 98NQH6DNC7VZ. SOC is short for Super Overclocked, and that certainly is the case. Armed with sturdy looks, based on a custom PCB and a third party cooler the guys behind KFA2 and Galaxy have introduced this gaming weaponry to get you through the Christmas season. The card has 4 GB graphics memory and comes factory tweaked for you. Oh and hey, it overclocks nicely as well as we even pass 1500 MHz on the GPU boost frequency.

'Um Hilbert... GALAX?' - Yes man, KFA2 and Galaxy made a drastic change, the two brands (naming wise) ceased to exist. Galaxy Technology and KFA2 merged into one single brand, GALAX. Same products, same quality and same warranty, but a different name.

If you're looking for the best Android tablet money can buy, look no further than the NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet. With a Tegra K1 processor and NVIDIA's constantly evolving SHIELD platform, which includes such great features like GameStream and Gamepad Mapper, there's a lot to love. Sennheiser Momentum On-Ear Headphone Review

ModSynergy has reviewed many products over the past 12-years being online. A wide variety of items have come and gone on this website. I'm shocked and cannot believe I started this website back when I was only 15-years old, just reminiscing about this gives me goose bumps down my arm. It's been a great ride, but it hasn't always been easy finding the motivation at times, but I've been fortunate and blessed to be doing something I very much enjoy for a very long time.

I've said something to this effect in some of my previous audio reviews, an analogy, but thinking about the length of time ModSynergy has been online is kind of like fine wine aging throughout the years. Individuals change, their perspectives change, their taste's change, their styles change, what they previously thought was good change, it's part of that ongoing evolution, but in the end it should get better.

Silicon Power Armor A30 USB 3.0 Hard Drive Review

I tend to carry a book bag with my all the time and usually my external hard drive is in there. My lifestyle involves going between multiple buildings and homes all the time so it’s important that I have my tools and information with me. This means that there are many opportunities in my day for my external hard drive to fall on the ground and become damaged. Often it only takes on drop for the average drive to be damaged and all the data to be lost. I tend to keep backups of my very important data on another machine at home. However, that is not always possible, so losing that information would be catastrophic.

The Kingston HyperX Fury 16GB 1866MHz DDR3 Memory Kit Reviewed

The Kingston HyperX Fury memory kits are all plug and play memory, but is also compatible with AMD systems. While you can change the frequencies in the BIOS manually, Fury is essentially “no fuss” plug and play without the need for BIOS or memory profile selection. Only one internal SPD profile is available so it should be as easy as powering up the system, and watching your settings flash at the BIOS boot up screen. The Kingston HyperX Fury 16 GB 1866 MHz DDR3 kit offers simplicty, higher frequencies, more memory bandwidth, a very attractive design, and an value oriented price point. Let’s put them to the test!

Zyxel PLA5206 review: 1000 Mbps power-line

Not long ago, we saw that 600Mbps adapters clearly improve upon those from the previous generations. The first set of 1000Mbps adapters recently made its way to our test lab, in the shape of Zyxel's PLA5206. How well do these perform?

The test results we observed during our comparison of 600Mbps adapters speak for themselves. Despite the fact that the name suggests but a small upgrade, 600Mbps adapters are a substantial improvement over 500Mbps ones. The difference becomes especially clear as soon as you introduce interference/noise to the network. Zyxel was the first to send us an adapter kit featuring a PHY-rate of 1000 Mbps. We naturally began testing these as soon as we could.
