Madshrimps: AMD FX-8150 Bulldozer CPU Review
It has been a while since AMD has revamped their CPU lineup. New Graphics Cards are introduced on a regular basis, though mostly their silicon motherboard processor variants are not. Mostly a brand new breed of CPUs goes hand in hand with the launch of a new CPU socket. And if the end user is really unlucky the RAM and CPU cooler need a swap too. It has been over 18 months since AMD introduced their hexacore Thuban CPU. So it was about time to give an answer to Intels SandyBridge lineup. Or why not even aim for Intels high end socket 1366 Gulftown lineup. With every new CPU release, speculations rule the various forums. How the design is gonna be, performance expectations, die size, TDP,.. you name it and has been dealt with on the tech sites. On the 12th of October AMDs new born CPU core baptized Zambezi, for the desktop PCs and for the servers Interlagos and Valencia will see the daylight. Let's open the press kit.

OCC: AMD FX-8150 Review
At 4940MHz (229x21.5 @ 1.435V), I was able to navigate through the OS and game for hours, though the system was not fully stable due to the thermal load. To get Prime95 stable, I had to drop the clock speeds down to 4640MHz (232x20 @1.325V) for a more easily-managed thermal load . After a ton of trial and error to reach my stability point, however, I found that results were not indicative of clock speeds during load testing. Through further research, I found that the FX-8150 starts throttling the clock speed (multiplier) at roughly 81°C, hence the need to further manage the thermal load to get the highest clocks from the FX-8150. A perfect example is shown in the Prime95 screen shot below. In the end, a 1.34GHz or almost 38% bump in clock speed is not that bad and is similar to the gains I have seen with some of my Intel chips. With a full-on water loop, speeds this high should be attainable and fully Prime95 stable. I do have to say, though, this is the highest-clocking AMD chip I have ever laid hands on. 5.0GHz, here I come!

Benchmark Reviews: AMD FX-8150 Bulldozer Processor
The days when AMD processors ruled the performance roost are long gone, and most enthusiasts have forgotten they ever existed. But less than a decade ago, the Athlon X2 dual-core processor thoroughly spanked Intel's first crude dual-core efforts, which were simply two separate processor dies on one chip, communicating through the front-side bus, as opposed to AMD's much more advanced true dual-core CPUs. But AMD's been playing catch-up since then, and has been forced to compete on price rather than performance in desktop processors. Now Benchmark Reviews tests the high end of the new Bulldozer desktop CPU line, the multiplier-unlocked 8-core FX-8150 CPU.

TweakTown: AMD FX-8150 (AM3+) 3.6GHz Bulldozer CPU Review
We have been waiting for months, but Bulldozer is finally here. The weeks leading up to the launch of the new FX line of processors hasn't been the best for AMD with a large amount of leaks that haven't put the new FX-8150 in the best light. Today, though, leaks don't matter; unofficial results don't matter. We've got all the latest drivers, the latest BIOS updates and it's time to see what Bulldozer can do. There's no denying that AMD are going to have a tough fight on their hands, though. AMD have stated that the new platform is only designed to compete against the current crop of Sandy Bridge CPUs.

The problem for AMD is that the 2600k has just done such a good job cementing itself as the overclockers CPU to get since it launched. Not only that, Intel's next generation high end platform to replace X58 is due out in literally 4 - 5 weeks, it seems. Sandy-Bridge E and X79, while will no doubt come with a higher price tag, is going to shine it seems when it comes to overall performance.

Legit Reviews: AMD FX-8150 Processor Review - Bulldozer Arrives
The AMD FX-8150 processor is certainly one of the most anticipated processors and AMD fans should be excited for what AMD has been able to do with the new architecture. Many were expecting Bulldozer to beat all of Intel's offerings, but we were told many months ago that it would mainly be competing with the Intel Core i5 'Sandy Bridge' processors. This might be a major let down to some, but at the end of the day AMD has managed to stay alive and bring out a processor that is still competitive with what Intel has to offer. In this economy and state of the computer industry that is must...

Hi Tech Legion: AMD FX-8150 CPU Review: Can Bulldozer Raze The Playing Field?
AMD's new FX-8150 is the first release in their new Bulldozer line featuring an all new and radically different architecture. The AMD FX-8150 is the first eight core desktop processor to market, but there is much more going on beneath the skin. The eight cores of the FX-8150 are built into fours modules on the chip, each with two physical processing cores. These two cores share resources in a way previously unseen, sharing not only L2 cache, but FPUs, as well. This makes for a highly efficient unit capable of incredible multithreaded capabilities. In addition, the FX-8150 is a Black Edition CPU with an unlocked multiplier. This obviously makes for easier overclocking, and the FX-8150 is designed with extreme overclocking headroom in mind. Recently, AMD set a world overclocking record with a Bulldozer CPU with the OC topping out at an astounding 8.4GHz. This, naturally, is not what should be expected from an ordinary home build, but it does show that the FX-8150 has extreme overclocking potential.

Guru 3D: AMD FX 8150 processor review
We review the AMD FX 8150 processor today. Previously know as Zambezi with its Bulldozer cores, today the FX series is released. It will be AMD's most high-end and complicated to fab processor series to date, yet will remain an affordable processor series.

As you probably know, the product tested today has eight (!) physical CPU cores, it will have a base clock of 3600 MHz, may Turbo towards 3900 MHZ and can peak a thread or two at a cool 4200 MHz. And that makes the FX series a multi-threaded monster. You can read our review right here

Anandtech: The Bulldozer Review: AMD FX-8150 Tested
AMD has been trailing Intel in the x86 performance space for years now. Ever since the introduction of the first Core 2 processors in 2006, AMD hasn't been able to recover and return to the heyday of the Athlon 64 and Athlon 64 X2. Instead the company has remained relevant by driving costs down and competing largely in the sub-$200 microprocessor space. AMD's ability to hold on was largely due to its more-cores-for-less strategy. Thanks to aggressive pricing on its triple and hexa-core parts, for users who needed tons of cores, AMD has been delivering a lot of value over the past couple of years.

Recently however Intel has been able to drive its per-core performance up with Sandy Bridge, where it's becoming increasingly difficult to recommend AMD alternatives with higher core counts. The heavily threaded desktop niche is tough to sell to, particularly when you force users to take a significant hit on single threaded performance in order to achieve value there. For a while now AMD has needed a brand new architecture, something that could lead to dominance in heavily threaded workloads while addressing its deficiencies in lightly threaded consumer workloads. After much waiting, we get that new architecture today. Bulldozer is here.

Techradar: Review: AMD FX-8150
We've waited a long time for AMD to release a brand new processor architecture, but finally the AMD FX-8150 has arrived. This first chip is the vanguard of the somewhat tardy Bulldozer technology and is this top-of-the-line AMD FX chip, code-named Zambezi. This is the full-fat, eight-core AMD super-chip running at a not inconsiderable 3.6GHz straight out the box.The FX moniker isn't a new one for AMD chips. The last time we saw it used for its high-end parts was in the 90nm Athlon 64 FX-74 in late 2006. It's been reborn this year to cover the first in what AMD hopes will be a long line of Bulldozer-based CPUs.
