A Look At AMD’s Radeon Pro WX 3100 Workstation Graphics Card

Last month, AMD filled out its Polaris-based Radeon Pro line with the WX 3100 and WX 2100. If you’re at all familiar with the Radeon Pro line, then you’ll know right away that these are both low-end workstation graphics cards – something further backed by their pricing: $199 for the WX 3100, and $149 for the WX 2100.

On the surface, the WX 3100 and WX 2100 look identical, and the same can be said for most of their specs. The main difference is that the lower card has just 2GB of VRAM, whereas the WX 3100 has a much beefier 4GB. Both of these cards are entry-level, but you’ll need to ask yourself whether or not that 2GB framebuffer would become an impedance in your workflow before choosing it over the WX 3100.

That all said, cutting the VRAM on the WX 2100 also reduces its power consumption, bringing the TDP from “up to” 50W down to 35W. AMD says that its WX 3100 redefines entry-level workstation graphics, whereas the WX 2100 is a good complement to those just beginning their “journey” into pro graphics. Both are low-profile cards, enabling you to get serious work done on very small PCs.

Antec Mercury 240 AIO Review

Given its price of just under £85, Antec’s Mercury 240 liquid cooler is clearly targeting those after some AIO action without breaking the bank. The addition of two LED fans, plus a LED pump, will certainly help its appeal as well. Whether or not the Mercury 240’s performance and noise levels justify the price is another thing, though.

AZIO Retro Classic Mechanical Keyboard Preview

Here at Benchmark Reviews, we’ve tested several AZIO keyboards and been impressed with the quality of their construction and the bang for the buck they offer. So when AZIO offered us the chance to take a look at a prototype of their project “MK Retro Pro” keyboard, we jumped at the chance– even though a retail version of this product is some months in the future. An evolution of AZIO’s existing “MK Retro” typewriter-themed keyboards, later renamed Retro Classic, ups the ante with a new design and new features.

Intel Core i9 7900X & Core i7 7740X Review

That being said, I only had a couple other performance problems on the Core i9 7900X. In AIDA64, the FPU Mandel test would not bump up all the cores into action while running at stock speeds. The only way to get a true result in the test was to manually bump the CPU cores up to the Turbo Boost speed in the BIOS. In one of the game tests, the Skylake X i9 7900X delivered a lower level of FPS when compared to the Broadwell-E and Haswell-E processors. Throw in the other few odd results and we can chalk it up to an immature processor. Overall, the Core i9 7900X delivers significant performance margins over just about anything on the market right now. Now, when I looked at the overall performance of the Kaby Lake X Core i7 7740X, I got just what I expected, with some performance outliers that did not resolve out with even more benchmark cycles. I saw some results that should have seen it outperform the socket 1151 Core i7 7700K during both the stock and overclocked testing, but it still fell a little bit short. Overall, with the larger socket and dual channel DDR4 2666MHz support, it can get the job done

Nvidia Titan Xp Review

Nvidia's finest consumer GPU reviewed and rated. Ask a handful of consumers which is Nvidia's fastest consumer graphics card and there's a good chance most will answer with GeForce GTX 1080 Ti. It is the GPU that has been hogging the headlines since March 2017, and a raft of impressive custom-cooled partner cards have been put through the wringer in subsequent months.

GTX 1080 Ti remains a formidable choice for anyone looking to splash out on a £700 graphics card, yet for the most fervent enthusiast there is a superior option that may have slipped under your radar. Toshiba N300 8TB High-Reliability HDD Review

Toshiba is adding to its X and P300 series of drives with a new N300 lineup. This lineup is aimed at NAS users wanting a reliable, high capacity solution in the 7200 RPM flavor. Toshiba is playing a bit of catch up with its hard drive business, bringing its very own NAS brewed solution to the market. The N300 designed from the ground up for NAS use in up to eight-bay systems offers several capacity options for the prospective buyer. At the ground floor, we have 4TB for entry-level consumers, and a step up gives us 6TB. 8TB is the peak capacity at this point, but all drives carry a 7200 RPM spindle speed.
