Best Free Drive Backup programs for Windows

Computer hard drives and other storage devices will fail eventually. While you may be able to use them for years without any issues, failures can happen from one moment to the next.

If you are not prepared for that, by making sure your data is backed up safely, you may lose access to the data partially or fully.

While backups are one of the best ways to recover from failing hard drives, they are useful for other purposes as well. They are useful if you need to restore files that were accidentally deleted or to gain access to all the data if a computer gets stolen.

Cooler Master V550 PSU Review

With power consumption getting smaller and smaller, even in our high performance computers, sometimes we just don’t need or want that massive 1500 Watt power supply. We want something that is relatively tiny in comparison to the standard power supply, yet will also offer clean power and only the fewest cables we will absolutely need. This automatically points us towards semi-modular units. Cooler Master thinks that their newest V-Semi-Modular Series lineup might just be the thing you are looking for.

Mesh Nightblade 3 HEX (MSI Nightblade) Review

Is MSI's mini-ITX platform the ultimate choice for a compact gaming machine? Seems a fair few of you are considering a transition to the mini-ITX form factor for your next PC build, but such a move is likely to require a much smaller chassis, so which do you choose?

We're starting to see a wide array of options from some of the industry's popular brands - Corsair's Obsidian Series 250D and EVGA's Hadron Air are a couple of noteworthy examples - but component manufacturer MSI is taking matters into its own hands.

The Taiwanese firm has been a long-standing champion of small-form-factor solutions, and with an array of mini-ITX motherboards and graphics cards in its arsenal, it now has a compact enclosure to match.

MSIs Next Haswell-E Teaser: X99S Gaming 9 AC

The increase in leaks and teasers regarding X99 makes for some compelling reading. Shortly after showing off their X99S SLI PLUS on Facebook, a couple of Gaming 9 AC renders seem to have been posted as well. The X99S Gaming 9 AC, as the name suggests, represents the top member of MSI’s gaming motherboard range if previous range identifiers are to be continued. Along with the 802.11ac support, the board looks like it will have eight DDR4 slots, five PCIe slots with SLI and Crossfire supported, an M.2 slot up to 2280, SATA Express, ten SATA 6 Gbps ports, eight USB 3.0 ports, upgraded audio and a Killer E2200 series network interface.

NEC EA244UHD Review

The NEC EA244UHD is the first UltraHD (UHD) monitor from NEC. While it's not from their professional line, it has many of the features we've come to expect in their monitors: uniformity compensation, a wider color gamut but also sRGB and AdobeRGB support, and many user configurable settings. It also has a few things NEC has never done before including SpectraView calibration support on an EA-series model and full USB 3.0. Read on for our full review.

PNY GTX 780 Ti XLR8 OC Single & SLI Review

Though they are normally associated with being one of the few board partners entrusted with NVIDIA’s Quadro lineup, PNY also has a relatively large and expanding stable of GeForce products as well. The GTX 780 Ti XLR8 OC is their flagship single GPU card and while it doesn’t have a well-marketed name like Classified, Matrix, Lightning or Super Overclock but unlike those indirect competitors, its price is quite a bit lower. PNY intends the XLR8 OC series to compete against the likes of ASUS’ DirectCU II OC, Gigabyte’s Windforce OC and MSI’s Gaming-branded cards. In the face of such entrenched competition, the GTX 780 Ti XLR8 OC will need to emphasize its relative value.

One of the major contributors to PNY’s value-added equation is their inclusion of a lifetime warranty with all of their cards which is backed up by North America-based tech support. With EVGA quietly dropping out of the lifetime warranty game, PNY is the only company around which backs their cards for a term longer than three years. Granted, a few board partners allow you to purchase extended warranties but this one is offered for free and if our experience is any indication, their customer support is top notch as well.

Samsung SSD 845DC EVO Solid State Drive Review

It was about a year ago that we first took a look at the Samsung SSD 840 EVO series of solid state drives. If you recall, those drives featured a new controller and the latest generation of Samsung’s TLC NAND flash memory, which allowed the company to offer the SSD 840 EVO series at very competitive prices, despite their relatively strong performance.

Those the SSD 840 EVO series of drives was originally designed for client-PC applications, Samsung has since evolved and refined the design and deemed it suitable for read-centric enterprise applications. The Samsung SSD 845DC EVO series of drives we’ll be showing you here offer many of the same features as the 840 EVO series, but performance has been optimized for enterprise workloads and power loss protection is now built-in...

Step by step: How to assemble a custom watercooling set in your pc

Some time ago we published an article on assembling a watercooling set yourself. How to get this into your PC build is explained in this workshop step by step.

We use components from Highflow.nl for this workshop. Our existing build is an air cooled PC, sporting a Intel Core i7 4770K processor, ASRock Z87 OC Formula motherboard and ASUS Radeon R9 290X DirectCU II GPU. A very important warning before you start with water cooling, use a case with an abundance of space to avoid problems. We are using Phanteks Enthoo Primo, an ideal case, as it as among other clever features, a special place to build in your reservoir.
