Alpenföhn K2 CPU Cooler Review
Madshrimps posted Alpenföhn K2 CPU Cooler Review

After reviewing the great performing Alpenföhn Peter VGA cooler I was heavily enthusiastic when they offered me to review their brand high end air cooler : the K2. For those that wonder where the name K2 comes from : the Mount K2 is the 2nd highest mountain in the world, right at the border of Pakistan and China. While the Mount Everest is still the highest one, mountain climbers categorize the K2 as the most difficult to conquer. This particular mountain is also known as Killer Mountain or Mount Doom. Think you get the idea, as not many reach the top. Back to the CPU cooler, before you are getting the idea you are browsing some Wikipedia-alike site. The Alpenföhn K2 is a dual tower design boosting 8 big diameter heatpipes, not sounding quite innovative as competitive products from Noctua and Thermalright have similar coolers in their lineup. But maybe the sleek design lines and the thermal performance can satisfy your cooling requirements. Let's open up the package...

SilverStone Grandia Series GD06 HTPC Chassis Review
TweakTown posted SilverStone Grandia Series GD06 HTPC Chassis Review

Today we have the pleasure of going over another chassis from SilverStone with a fine tooth comb. There have been previous models in the Grandia chassis segment, all designed to deliver an attractive solution to add to your living room or home theater. Over time SilverStone has seen what works and what doesn't, and in this example, being the current top dog in the lineup, the GD06 has a little bit of everything while doing away with things like a tiny LCD you couldn't see across the room anyways.

Stepping up the cooling inside of the chassis, SilverStone allows for more powerful systems to be properly cooled when we do decide to play our favorite game title on the big screen. Without giving too much of it away up front, I say we move from this right into the specifications so you can wrap your mind around everything found inside and outside of the latest Grandia Series in the GD 06 HTPC chassis.

Corsair HX1050 1050W Power Supply Review
OCC has published a review on the Corsair HX1050 1050W Power Supply

The Corsair HX1050 performed very well overall. The DC voltage regulation is excellent and in combination with what as to be said are only satisfactory noise/ripple levels still means decent DC quality. The efficiency fell a little short of the 80 Plus Silver requirements following the OCC power supply testing methodology but not by much and a maximum efficiency of 89% is still pretty good.

GIGABYTE G1.Killer Sniper 2 Z68 ATX Motherboard Review
Futurelooks checks out GIGABYTE's dedicated gaming board based on INTEL's Z68 platform

Two die hard gamers with nearly identical systems were convinced that one would “pwn” the other. As the fight went on, it seemed player one knew where Player two was at all times, getting behind and knifing him at will. This happens all too often to a large majority of players, but there are a few variables that give your opponent that extra edge. One such advantage is the motherboard your performance components are connected to. Especially if the board offers higher end audio and networking. GIGABYTE has been doing this for quite some time with their G1.Killer Series. Now they’ve unleashed the G1 Killer Sniper 2 based on INTEL’s Z68 platform.

Antec Solo II Mid Tower Chassis Review
eTeknix.com posted Antec Solo II Mid Tower Chassis Review

Over the years we have seen many new products come onto the market from Antec and every now and again they release a fresh updated version of an existing product. The Solo II bears no surprises that its predecessor is the original Solo case that was built around a concept of a very quiet yet high performing chassis. The Solo II continues this trend whilst also taking trends from the Sonata series of cases that offer convenience, ease of access and most of all - simple yet elegant aesthetics.

With quiet computing in mind, there are naturally no real lean towards performance as Antec wanted to reach out to completely separate user group in the market. This is to include the corporate work setting where its uniform looks would fit in with it surrounds and also the general home PC user that wants a system that looks good yet sits quietly in the corner no making itself heard due to its built in sound deadening and noise reduction mountings.

Have Antec fallen back on old times with an older style of chassis design and aesthetics or has the Solo II come back to bring back a life from the past?
