AMD Ryzen 7 1700X CPU Review

£500 still a little much for you to drop on an 1800X? Worry not as that’s where the Ryzen 7 second-in-command 1700X comes in. Take some less favourable Ryzen 7 silicon, drop the clock frequencies by a couple of hundred Megahertz, put £100 back into your pocket and you are left with a Ryzen 7 1700X. Oh, and you still get the unlocked multiplier that allows you to overclock hassle-free (and close to Ryzen 7 1800X numbers). Where’s the catch?

AMD Ryzen Gaming Performance In-Depth: 16 Games Played at 1080p & 1440p

AMD Ryzen processors made a strong impression last week, however time constraints resulted in more questions than answers when it came to the four games we managed to benchmark in time for launch. As promised, we're back to follow up on our initial 1080p testing with a more in-depth look at Ryzen's gaming performance across a 16 titles played at 1080p and 1440p resolutions.

EVGA GTX 1070 SC2 with iCX Technology Review

If I was to name one thing in a modern PC that has changed the way we use computers it would be the video card. Storage and CPUs have paved the way to enabling PCs to do more but the video card is what shows us the results of our hard work. Thing is video cards are damn simple devices with a dedicated video processor, some memory and a power supply. All of that fits as an expansion card in your PC.

Over the years graphic processing units (GPU)s have increased in power requiring larger and more advanced power supplies and cooling systems and how those components go together define the custom GPU market.

In this review I’ll be looking at the new iCX Technology from EVGA. iCX Technology is more than just a cooler and can be applied to any EVGA video card like the GTX 1070 SC2 (SuperClocked 2) featured in this review. We will be using this card to test the iCX Technology however, we have all seen how the GTX 1070 performs so consider this review to be an explanation on how iCX works and why you may consider it for your next purchase.

Linux 4.11 Doesn't Change The Game For AMD's Ryzen

Linux 4.11 is worthwhile in that it's bringing ALC1220 audio support, the codec used by many Ryzen (and Intel Kabylake) motherboards, but this next kernel version doesn't appear to change Ryzen's performance...

If you’re thinking of moving up to a 32-inch monitor, the Philips BDM3270 might just be cause enough to pull the trigger. It features a VA panel with contrast over 5700:1 and the most accurate out-of-box color we’ve ever seen.

Running The Ryzen 7 1700 At 4.0GHz On Linux

Many Phoronix readers appear rather intrigued by the AMD Ryzen 7 1700 on Linux as it offers good multi-threaded performance with eight cores / 16 threads and retails for just $329 USD. Making the Ryzen 7 1700 even more appealing to enthusiasts is that it overclocks well. For those curious, here are benchmarks of the Ryzen 7 1700 on Ubuntu Linux running at 4.0GHz.

The 2016 Razer Blade Pro Review

When I first heard about Razer, they were a company that strictly made gaming peripherals. I mostly associate them with their DeathAdder mouse, with the version from 2010 still being one of the best mice Ive ever used. Razer has also made audio equipment like gaming headsets for quite some time, as well as a line of gaming keyboards. As time went on, some of these products gained features that were unique to Razer, such as the use of Razer-designed mechanical switches in their gaming keyboards, and RGB backlighting in various products with the Chroma branding.

Razer has made a number of attempts to move beyond the world of gaming peripherals. Some have been more successful than others. For example, some gamers may remember the Razer Edge Pro, the gaming tablet that never seemed to catch on with consumers. Razer also made a fitness band called the Nabu, but it also appears to have missed the mark and has seen some pretty heavy discounts in recent times. With Razers recent purchase of NextBit, many have begun to speculate on whether Razer plans to move into the mobile industry.
