Benefit of OC Socket on ASUS' X99 motherboards proven

Back in our launch review of fifteen Intel X99 motherboards for Haswell-E processors we weren't entirely sure about the purpose of ASUS' OC Socket, which contains more pins than the sockets other manufacturers incorporate in their boards. Haswell-E processors do indeed have more than 2011 contact points, a number of which are not actually used in the official socket.

CentOS 7 review - It's finally here

OK, I have written a review of CentOS 7 64-bit KDE edition, a distribution based on RedHat Enteprise Linux (RHEL) 7, covering live session, installation and post-install use, including Wireless (2.4GHz and 5GHz), Bluetooth, Samba sharing, partitioning difficulties and installer errors, desktop look & feel, command-line only package management, problems with third-party repository contents, applications, customization, desktop effects, printing, resource usage, stability, suspend & resume, various, and more. Take a look.

Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB DDR4 Review

Today, we are looking at their Ballistix Sport which is a range designed for both enthusiasts and mainstream users alike. They certainly look the part; low-slung with silver heatsinks atop of a black PCB. Ballistix are renowned for being good overclockers so we anticipate this aspect of the DDR4 modules with verve. So without further delay let's move on to the specifications of these modules.

Gigabyte FORCE H3X Headset Review

In the world of gaming, graphics are King. It’s no surprise, and graphics cards tend to get all the hype. Look at the shiny new game engine! Look at those particle effects! You’ll find no argument here, but have you ever stopped for a minute and turned off the sound in one of those gorgeous games? Think about it for a second: when was the last time (if ever) that you simply unplugged your headset or turned off your speakers when gaming? I’m willing to wager you’ve never done it. If you have, you probably died very quickly at the hand of any noob adversary.

Why? As popular as graphics may be, it is arguably the sound that makes a game immersive or memorable in many ways. It is that special audio connection that sets the atmosphere. It is also that audio that often means the difference between life or death in an online multiplayer gaming environment.

Intel Core i7 4790K / i5 4690K Devil's Canyon review: Haswell for overclockers

Last month Intel Introduced the Haswell Refresh processors. The newly introduced processors can easily be described as being the same 4th generation Core-processors we already knew, with the same price with a model number which is 20 points higher and a clock frequency which has been raised by 100 MHz.
Two processors however didn't receive an update: the Core i7 4770K and the i5 4670K, the uncocked models aimed at overclockers.

Intel X99 motherboard review part 2: 20 boards tested

At the end of August Intel introduced the Haswell E processors and we published a comparative test of 15 Intel X99 motherboards. In this update we introduce the new boards on the market and show the updated test results of all 20 motherboards.

iOS 8.1 Review

Apple might be playing catch-up, but iOS 8 is worth the wait. APPLE IS HERALDING iOS 8 as its biggest software update since the launch of the App Store, which seemingly is true, given that we had to clear over 4GB of free space on our iPhone to install it, and almost 6GB on our 16GB iPad.

Netgear Nighthawk R7000 AC1900 Review

We are late to the game with this particular review, but we had so many requests from readers to look at the NetGear Nighthawk R7000 that we decided it was worth a (belated) look. No doubt you will have a instant love-it-or-hate-it reaction to the appearance of the Netgear Nighthawk R7000 router. It is certainly no object of beauty but instead looks very purposeful.

The Best Android Smartphones of 2014

Throughout this year I have reviewed and had hands-on time with a large number of smartphones, especially from the Android camp, simply because there’s such a sheer volume of them on the market today.
