GeIL Ultra-X Series PC3200 2-2-2-5 Review

Posted by Philipp Esselbach on: 08/20/2004 02:51 PM [ Print | 0 comment(s) ]

3DVelocity has posted a review on GeIL Ultra-X Series PC3200 2-2-2-5 memory

After a bit of a worrying spell where memory manufacturers seemed hell-bent on introducing ever faster speeds and where low latency modules were becoming rarer than rocking horse manure, it's great to see that various companies have are now turning their attentions back to those of us who don't want to have to overclock in order to get great results.

One company who've recently announced their own brand of low latency memory is GeIL. Known as Ultra-X, GeIL's new memory offers latencies of 2-5-2-2 at 200MHz and also claims to manage 250MHz (500MHz effective) when the timings are relaxed to 2.5-6-3-3 meaning in theory you get the best of both worlds, tight timings if you don't want to overclock, faster frequencies if you do. None of the memory I've used recently that was specified to run 2-5-2-2 (including the mighty Corsair 3200XL Pro) was able to reach 250MHz even at 4-8-4-4 so I was certainly curious to see if GeIL were able to live up to their promises.
