AMD EPYC 7251 Provides Great Value At Less Than $500 USD

We have been delivering a number of EPYC 7601 Linux benchmarks since receiving this 32 core / 64 thread high-end server processor a little more than one month ago. Recently we received some additional EPYC processors from AMD for testing and for this next batch of benchmarking decided to begin with the EPYC 7251, which is the current lowest-end EPYC part. For priced at under $500 USD, this eight core / 16 thread processor has a lot to offer.

ASUS ROG Strix Scar (GL703VW) Laptop Review

ASUS ROG’s Strix Scar laptop is aimed squarely at first person shooter gamers. It boasts GTX 1060 graphics, an i7-7700HQ processor and 16GB of DDR4 – but most impressive is the 120Hz Full-HD display and its 5ms response time. As with most ROG products, though, it does not come cheap – priced at £1599.99 here in the UK, the Scar is a pretty serious investment. Is it one worth making?

Cooler Master MasterWatt 650W Review

Going after the mainstream. Cooler Master has been known for its fair share of innovation over the years. The huge Cosmos chassis - new and old - remains a formidable case for building a high-spec rig into, but the company is aware that it needs a strong presence in more than one PC segment for continued growth. What better place to invest than in the power-supply market.

The firm has a dizzying array of PSUs because it services the retail and bulk-volume OEM markets concurrently. Breaking down the supplies via their 80 PLUS rating - a rough and ready reckoner of performance - shows there is scope to further extend its new MasterWatt brand by replacing the G- and V-series supplies, and this is exactly what it is doing with today's release of four 80 PLUS Bronze models.

Google Pixel 2 XL And Pixel 2 Review: Android Never Looked So Good

Google has been designing and building premium Android smartphones for many years, co-branding with various hardware partners since back in the days of the company's Nexus devices. More recently with its first generation Pixel series, the Mountain View team has taken more prominent ownership of the brand, with devices specifically underscored as "Made By Google." And indeed the design signatures of the first generation Pixel and Pixel XL were distinctly different from any other handset on the market, as are the latest Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL that Google is launching today, along with a redesigned Daydream View VR headset.

Designed by Google but manufactured by HTC (Pixel 2) and LG (Pixel 2 XL), these two new handsets also boast Google's latest Android 8.0 operating system, aka Oreo, an exclusive to Google Pixel and certain Nexus devices, at least for now. In some ways, this is also a big advantage as you'll note on the pages ahead...

HP S700 SSD Review

Now, when you look at the actual performance delivered versus the rated specifications, the HP S700 drive showed both some positives and negatives. In the ATTO testing, the drive came close to its up to 560MB/s rating at 552MB/s and was quite a bit shy on the write side of the equation, only mustering a 470MB/s result. Rated at up to 75000 read IOPS and 90000 write IOPS, the drive showed that it did not quite get there in the Anvil Storage utility test with a result in the QD16 read and write tests with results closer to the ratings of the 250GB drive being offered in this series of 40572 read IOPS and 79139 write IOPS. Where the drive showed the most positive performance was when it was being written to.
