Adata Premier SP550 SSD Review (240GB)

Early last month we reviewed Adata’s newest SATA 6Gb/s contender in the enthusiast market segment, the XPG SX930. Utilizing a JMicron controller and premium MLC NAND, it delivered good performance at a decent price point. Today we are going to shift gears and take a look at their latest entry level SATA 6Gb/s SSD, the Premier SP550 (http://thessdreview.us7.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=3d9b6193ffd32dd60e84fc74b&id=1a6e90748c&e=312ec141fb) . The Premier SP550 (http://thessdreview.us7.list-manage.com/track/click?u=3d9b6193ffd32dd60e84fc74b&id=fedca95c1f&e=312ec141fb) is the first retail product we have come across with the Silicon Motion SM2256 controller since our initial preview back in February (http://thessdreview.us7.list-manage2.com/track/click?u=3d9b6193ffd32dd60e84fc74b&id=fe87e69156&e=312ec141fb) . Furthermore, it boasts SK Hynix TLC NAND, which is also a first for us. We are hoping to see an improvement in the SM2256’s performance now that the firmware has been finalized, so today’s results may be quite interesting to see. Can the Premier SP550, utilizing this new controller and TLC combo, deliver? Let’s find out.

Hands On With The Samsung Gear S2 And Gear S2 Classic Smartwatches

Samsung announced their latest smartwatches a couple of days ago, the Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic. We’ve got all of the initial details and imagery from Samsung’s release posted here if you’d like to check them out. To quickly reiterate some particulars, both of these smartwatches feature 11.4mm thin casings and a 1.2-inch, 360x360 displays that are complete circles, unlike the “flat tire” displays used on the Moto360. At the heart of the Gear S2 is an undisclosed Samsung-sourced 1GHz dual-core processor paired with 512MB of RAM. NFC technology is incorporated into the watches as well, which will support Samsung Pay in the near future. The Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classis are IP68 certified for dust and water resistance as well. And there will be versions with and without integrated 3G connectivity.

Today we get to take things a step further and show you these two new devices in action. We recently had the chance to sit down with Samsung and get our hands on the Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic, and shot some video of them at work. Take a look...

MSI Radeon R7 370 Gaming 2GB Video Card Review

With 1024 GCN 1.0 stream processors in 16 compute units (32 ROPs and 64 Texture Units) and 2GB of VRAM on a 256-bit bus, the AMD Radeon R7 370 is no slouch and is a very capable card for 1080P gaming. The AMD Radeon R7 370 Reference Card is clocked at 975 MHz on the GPU core clock, but you can find models from board partners that are factory overclocked well beyond AMDs recommended core clocks. The price starts at $149.99 for a base model or you can step up to a factory overclocked model with a beefed up GPU cooler like the MSI R7 370 Gaming 2G that we are looking at today for $158.99 shipped.

Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ITX Special Edition Case Review

Recently Phanteks released the Special Edition of their Enthoo Evolv ITX case. The Special Edition’s are actually different color variants than the original, which was only available in black. The two Special Editions are black with red interior and white with black interior. These two new color combinations should help builders match components better and hell they just look pretty cool! We actually reviewed the Enthoo Evolv ITX back in March and even did a full watercooling build inside. Derrick did a great job on both of those reviews so I decided I would take a look at the case and see what it is all about. This will give a different point of view from someone who has never reviewed a Phanteks case before. Read along to see what I think of the Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ITX Special Edition Case.

PowerNAS Business Mini Review

If you are a fan of model names that describe a product in a fair amount of detail then the PowerNAS Business Mini will be right up your street. PowerNAS offers three families of NAS and this model is loaded with Windows Server 2012 R2 for the business market. It earns the other part of its name by using an Ablecom NAS chassis that is (relatively) small and compact and, incidentally, reminiscent of the cuboid Thermaltake Core V21.
