Mushkin 7mm Chronos Deluxe 120GB SSD Review

Posted by Philipp Esselbach on: 10/22/2012 08:27 AM [ Print | 0 comment(s) ]

HiTech Legion posted a review on the Mushkin 7mm Chronos Deluxe 120GB SSD

Current ultrabooks and thinner notebooks have gone the way using a slimmer 7mm tall 2.5” drive to save space. Standard 2.5” drives come in at 9.5mm, so the push is on to downsize to fit into these new rigs. Naturally mechanical drives were developed quickly due to their storage per dollar capabilities, but there are those that are going to find the performance benefits of an SSD far more important. If you are laying out the expense for a top tier ultrabook, you are going to want top tier performance, and an SSD is going to satisfy a large part of that performance craving.

Renowned memory manufacturer Mushkin is answering the call with the 7mm Chronos Deluxe SSD line with available cpapcities from 60-480GB. In this article we will be looking at the Mushkin 7mm Chronos Deluxe 120GB MKNSSDCR120GB-DX7, which at 120GB has been the most popular recent size among consumers. While thinner, the 7mm Chronos Deluxe retains all of the features and technology that made the standard Chronos Deluxe a top performer. The 7mm Chronos Deluxe uses the SandForce 2281 controller paired with high speed synchronous MLC NAND to achieve blistering 560 MB/s read and 515 MB/s write speeds with 90,000 IOPS (4K random write, 4K aligned) using a SATA III connection. Though slim, the 7mm Chronos Deluxe still shows off shock resistance to 1500G and a temperature tolerance from 0-70° C for reliability in stressful environments. TRIM is supported and Mushkin’s data optimization keeps your drive performance like new even through extended use. A three year limited warranty backs the 7mm Chronos Deluxe.
