ASUS C300M Chromebook User Review – Is Chrome OS Ready To Compete?

When we first thought about picking up a Chromebook, we were very weary. For one who is extremely familiar with Windows and Mac OS X, it was hard to imagine anything different. With the Internet of Things being the big trend for CES 2015, and a growing number of products being introduced that reinforce this concept, the Chromebook fits in easily. But are we ready for an Operating System that relies so heavily upon the Internet? To put it another way, are we ready to have all of our applications run from our browser, with all of our data stored in the cloud?

COUGAR 600K Mechanical Gaming Keyboard Review

All in all, the COUGAR 600K is quite a nice looking keyboard. It has improved my thoughts on COUGAR as a brand in its entirety. A while back, I saw COUGAR as a cheap (though expensive) peripheral maker. That thought has been whipped away with the last few products I've gotten my hands on. The quality is much more on par with the market, and with the 600K I think I can safely say I could beat my way through zombies. COUGAR has officially earned its name off my blacklist for items.

Cougar 600M Black Edition Gaming Mouse Review

In a world of multi-GPU monster rigs and quad panel set ups, often the true tools of the PC gamer are forgotten. We look past the headset, past the keyboard and look to the true weapon of the modern gamer; the mouse. In the same sense of, "What is an artist without his brush?"  we must also ask, "What is … Read more.

Cougar 600M Gaming Mouse Review

Cougar wants to be a big player in the gaming and eSports arena. We have seen many companies make the transition or great sub-brands to do so. We were very impressed with Cougar’s flagship gaming keyboard the 700K and now we are going to be taking a look at their 600M gaming mouse. The 600M sits in the middle of their mice offerings with the 700M above and the 200M below. It packs some great features like OMRON switches, an ANDS-9800 laser sensor, on-board memory to keep your profiles wherever you go, 8 programmable buttons, a soft-touch feel, programmable lighting and so much more! Can the 600M impress us as much as Cougar’s 700K keyboard did? Let’s jump in and see!

Dell XPS 13 (2015) Ultrabook

When we took a look at Dell's 2014 version of the XPS 13 back in March of last year, it scored high marks with us for impressive battery life, great build quality and good performance, though it didn't have an SD card slot on board. That was a glaring omission for us, in what was otherwise a fantastic machine.

Since then, however, it appears Dell has been doing its homework and at this year's CES in Las Vegas, Dell dropped what was widely considered to be at least the notebook "bomb" of the show, though we'd argue it could well be one of the top show highlights, period.

The new for 2015 Dell XPS 13 is not only powered by Intel's latest 5th Generation Core Series processor, formerly known under the code name Broadwell-U, but it's the first machine to hit our test bench with Intel's new full-power notebook platform. This isn't a 4 - 5 Watt Core M machine we're looking at here; it's Intel's 14nm Core series architecture in full-featured 15 Watt notebook form with a new Intel HD 5500 graphics engine as well. And to step out with their best foot forward, Dell engineered the new 5th Gen Core Series-infused XPS 13 with much more than just fancy carbon fiber...

Linksys WRT1900AC AC1900 Smart Wi-Fi Wireless Router Review

Whether we like or not (i don't much) cables will soon become a thing of the past in most applications something which has been made clear from all the recent and continuous advancements in the industry from the new Wi-Fi standards (802.11ac) and technologies (such as Beamforming) up to wireless media streaming (via Wi-Fi) and even wireless electricity which although so far is primarily used in the charging of portable devices (PowerMat & Qi) we might see it sooner rather than later in our homes used to power full sized electrical appliances. Now although we haven't focused on every new wireless product out in the market we have tested several of the latest 802.11ac compatible Wi-Fi modem/routers lately and today we will the current flagship of the Linksys dual-band smart Wi-Fi router line the highly acclaimed WRT1900AC.

The Linksys brand has pioneered wireless connectivity since its inception in 1988 with its leading innovation and engineering strategies, and best-in-class technology, design, and customer service. Linksys enables a connected lifestyle for people at home, at work and on the move, and with its award-winning products, simplifies home control, entertainment, security and Internet access through innovative features and a growing application and partner ecosystem.

Just a glimpse on the specifications sheet and it doesn't take more than that to see that with the WRT1900AC Linksys seems to have surpassed most of their competition since this time over they've used a powerful 1.2 GHz dual-core ARM CPU for maximum performance and have paired it with 128MB of flash storage, 256MB of DDR3 RAM, 4 Gigabit Ethernet ports, eSATA/USB 2.0/USB 3.0 ports and 4 high gain antennas which thanks to Beamforming technology (focuses the signal towards connected devices) produce stronger and more reliable Wi-Fi signal compared to other modem/routers. Of course as the name suggests much like other 1900AC compatible modem/routers the WRT1900AC also produces simultaneous 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz wireless signal/bands with a speed of up to 1900Mbps (1300Mbps on the 5GHz and 600Mbps on the 2.4GHz band). With the Netgear R7000 Nighthawk holding the title of fastest router in our charts we too are quite interested to see whether or not the WRT1900AC can compete in equal terms.

MSI GT80 Titan Review (2x GTX980m) (023UK)

Few products have generated as much hype and interest as the MSI GT80 Titan Gaming laptop. Kitguru was the first major publication to cover the new laptop when we flew over to Taipei last November. LEO then got his hands on an early pre retail sample for KITGURU TV back in December. Today we present our full, in depth analysis of what can only be considered the most powerful laptop that money can buy. Add a full mechanical keyboard with Cherry switches into the mix and you have a heady combination for a gamer demanding a fully mobile form factor.

Sound Blaster E5

A while back I had the chance to check out the E1 from Sound Blaster. This was a small portable headphone amp that also doubled as a portable USB sound card. You could hook it up to our phone or portable gaming devices to increase the audio quality or if you wanted you could plug into your laptop or PC. Well Sound Blaster has been busy, after the introduction of the E1 they went on to introduce a Bluetooth version (the E3) and also the E5. What’s the E5? Well the E5 takes the same idea but rather than a sound card you get a full DAC (Digital Audio Converter). You get the same features of the E1 and the E3 but they really stepped things up even more on the audio quality side of things. Of course we can’t take their word for it, let’s dig in and see what the E5 is all about.

VisionTek 120GB USB 3.0 Pocket SSD Drive Review

Late last year VisionTek released a USB 3.0 Flash drive called the Visiontek USB 3.0 Pocket SSD Drive that offers up to 455MB/s read and 440MB/s write on sequential file transfers when used on a system that supports the USB Attached SCSI Protocol (UASP). The drive is also rated at up to 39,000 IOPS for random 4K performance, so you could actually use this USB 3.0 drive as a Windows To Go bootable USB drive if you wanted to! VisionTek was able to get these speeds by pairing the time tested and proven SandForce SF-2281 controller along with Tier 1 high quality NAND Flash memory components. Basically, VisionTek has basically placed all the components of a Solid-State Drive (SSD) in pocket-sized USB storage drive. Read on to see how it performs and what it costs!
